Default LOL ... WL GSD's and Mal's for average Pet Owners??

Aww well this not a GSD or Mal forum but you know seen I had a WL GSD, they come up. And I got a lot of flack on, Germanshepardforum for not "recommending" the the Breed, to everyone! But hey I just shared my journey with "Rocky" the good and the bad and why/how ultimately I did fall in LUV, with the "Breed!" But I still don't recommend them to "most" pet dog owners!

Still telling like it (could be??) Has encouraged few!! I have placed a few in good hands "because of our story!" I serve, mostly as a "head's up" as it were. And the capable of "handling the Breed??" Seem to say "OK, now I know, so I won't do that!" LOL ... "Good Enough!" But ... apparently, I am a "Candy Butt" compared to a few of the "MAL" guy's???

Working Dog's are "Working Dog's" and that is the "Group" they are in. Now by a large (Save for the Euro's) Boxer's job seem to be as a family pet. And yes ... they are good at there job's!! And dare I say ... most likely the best "Working Line Dog" out there at that "Job!"

And with that much said ... I like to consider myself as "fairly" neutral as regards WL GSD's with most "Average Pet Owners??" I just give my experience with my one dog and what I feel, I did wrong in the being and how I got it right. And what it was like after getting it wrong "first??"

But ... LOL apparently with Wl GSD's and just say "NO" maybe??? I am a "Candy Butt" compared to this "Mal Guy!!" :

And that is a "MAL" guy and to the those think ... "well maybe??" His advise seems to be, if you are not "Working" your dog??? Just say "No to a MAL!" But hey some people have more money then sense! And you know as they say a "picture" is worth a thousand word's ... which I can do.

Still "even I was stunned" when I saw the following!!!???? An untrained, under exercised, most likely never even walked, Walked??? Mal ... locked in a garage with a 200,000 Porsche, to keep him out of trouble?? So Porsche vs MAL as it were. And guess who lost!!:

That is uh freaking epic!! Even I was stunned!!!

Pretty much happens when any dog is in the news. I remember when the movie 101 dalmatians came out and the shelters were actually going on tv telling people to stop getting them because a ton were ending up in shelters.

Its like when people meet Zuke and me walking off leash and they say, "Oh, I thought boxers are nutty, high energy and don't listen." and I always say, you want a dog like this, be prepared to do a couple hours of training and exercise a day at the least, and training doesn't stop when they learn something, he is 3 1/2 and we still train every single day

LOL, well give those folks at least "some credit!" Cuz, at least they have "some idea" of what a Boxer, "could be like??" But I would say ... that folks like that, at least have a clue. And they would be willing to "try not to let that happen" as it were.

But it sounds like "Zuke" is doing a great job of "Representing the breed!" And it's your job to "Keep it Real" for folks! So great job you two!

Yeah, I've already talked one of my neighbors out of getting one. lol

I told him what to expect and the training I've done and he said "thanks, I wouldn't be able to commit to that."

WOW. My first thought after that is - I hope the person didn't hurt the dog; and then, I hope the dog didn't ingest the missing pieces of metal. Poor baby.

The husky's were in the news a few months ago due to Game of Thrones and the dire wolves...I guess some may have gotten a GSD or Mal for this too. I wonder how many want one after seeing John Wick 3 too.

It's great that your neighbor listened. I think so many get a breed based on how they look instead of the best fit for their life.

Exactly.

Or they see a highly trained dog and think, wow look how good that dog is. Some people have no idea the effort that goes into training.

I love what the guy said in the video about getting a stuffed animal Mal. I say that all the time about a lot of dogs. Most people just want a dog that greets them when they come home and then spends the rest of the day on the couch.

Hmmm let me know if this shows up??? I tried to go directly to Youtube and it say's it was pulled??

But I got saw it first from a "news Site!! Mostly the clip got "pulled," when hsi "Open Comment" section got lit up by well ...folks like me and the The first Trainer, I linked.

The first guy was doing a pretty hard sale "On "MAL's are not for EVERYONE!!" And that is doing the Breed a Good Turn! The guy above ...not so much??? More like "Malnois, For everybody!!"

Now I won't even mention the two Mal's that just killed a "Rookie (I assume??) K9 handler in Austria, I think??

One was trained the other 5 months old and they broke out of there kennel. The Solider, tried to round them up and it did not go well ... sadly.

Opps, my bad looks like I did in fact it??? Aww well ...pointing out crap like that happening is how I got banned on Germanshepardforum. You put in a serious freaking dog into incompetent hands and uh "Bad Crap" can happen!

And the above trainer ... is not doing the "Breed" any favors! I bet Mr. Porsche guy is "seriously reconsider his choice in Dog's??? Most likely he was to busy making bucks and had no time for his dog??? About 10 to 20,000 to repair that damage ... I would say. A Board and Train, with a real trainer ... would have been a cheaper option, I would say. But yeah I hope the dog is OK, also. And hopefully now, he will re home to a MAl rescue?? Cause you know ... it's not like the dog has a "Bite History" cuz destroying car's ... doesn't count.

My dog's of choice for the lazy and clueless, if I had to say?? Would be a Basset hound a Beagle or a Pug! Cuz you know if you can't handle those??? Then don't get "ANY" Working line Dog!"

And for the record ... I luv, Bassets and Pug's!

It doesn't look like he ate the sheet metal?? Looks he just punched it full of holes???

Lot's of expensive metal work right there! And depending on how "anal, the guy is??" It's gonna be a spray and blend??? Or a whole body respray, $$$$!

I must say ... that is some impressive damage!! And he is lucky the car window's were up!! Cuz the front seat's would be no less than $2000, each!

It's a rather expensive lesson in doing your research ... I only got stitches in one finger, and a permanently bent little finger. With my foray into the unknown. (First Wl GSD) so I got off cheap apparently.

Can..."I think so many get a breed based on how they look instead of the best fit for their life."

I think your point here is right on. ts really not so much whether a dog is from a wl GSD/mal , rottie or whatever. These dogs do need more constructed training, they a big dogs and in the working groups. That means they have it in their genetic to have a job. They don't train them other then the sit, down and shake hands. They are extremely smart dogs and they do not do well as couch potatoes. When they react, well you get bad results a lot of being caused by their size. So if you have no intention to continue working with your dog best to stay away from these breeds. I recently had a neighbor who got a really beautiful GSD, they didn't train it at all and allowed their maybe 7,8 year olds n younger to walk it around the neighborhood. The mom didn't even keep the dog inside as she could not deal with a 8 week old pups whining, chewing etc. It didn't take long before that dog was lunging cat cars and walking with its ruff up. They eventually returned it to its breeder. Fortunately for this dog it came from a reputable breeder. It was a gorgeous shepherd and reminded me of one I had long ago.
