Default Cat question!

OK, this is a cat question but I know there are a few cat owners on the board

We recently switched our kitty Dusty to BLUE Indoor Health Salmon & Brown Rice Recipe. He has been on it for just over a month now and seemed to be doing great until about a week ago. He now has HORRIBLE stinky gas and had a very messy splattery poop that landed half on the wall and half in his litterbox this week (yuck!)

Do you think it's something in the food? Could he be allergic to Salmon? Or maybe he got into something when he was outside...

We had him on Iams ProActive Health Adult Indoor Weight & Hairball Care for most of his life. We switched him over because we thought the Blue was better for him.

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated!

My stupid cat would only eat "alley cat" for years and years tried everything some did give her the runs most didnt because she wouldnt eat them !! I had a bowl of food sit untouched for a week then the vet had a "study " that they wanted older cats for she was 8 by then and we switched her to the "study" food and she actually liked it!! and no gas, no runs, lost weight got a "glow" had more energy etc however they would not tell us what it was when we ran out of "study" food she was back to not eating or only alley cat but she lost the "glow" she got with the "study" food they later (6 months) reveled it was eagle holistic for seniors got her a bag and sure enough same stuff she lost all the fat she had gained on the garbage food and her coat improved and the chronic dandruff was gone again too and her poos were solid on it dont know if you have tried it ever but.... my thought is maybe the Blue is too rich for her system causing the runs because for mine the higher the protien the runnyer she got dont get me wrong the Eagle holistic is 19% and chock full of good stuff but most of the high protien foods didnt work for mine when I could get her to eat them

Well he has been on Iams all his life and that's 28% protein compared to Blue's 32%. Not a huge difference... maybe it's the Salmon or even the brown rice? ugh... his poops weren't the greatest on the Iams but at least they weren't explosive and he didn't have gas. But the Blue has given him more pep to his step and his fur is so soft and shiny now... ugh!

I had my two 5 yr old Ragdoll boys on Science Diet until I knew better; switched them to Blue Buffalo Indoor Cat; I too saw a nice difference in their coats and their eyes were so shiny and the dandruff is gone; but I had to go back to Science Diet and do a slower transition (I didn't give myself enough time) and once the slow transition was over and they were on full BB I didn't have anymore 'runny poops'. But I have switched again - to Acana now and remembered to do a slow transition I/they don't have any problems.

The transition was about 2 weeks and that ended 3-4 weeks ago.
