Default Need help finding and purchasing a puppy

Hi all.....new to the forum.....i had two boxers....zoey was twelve and we had to recently euthanize her because she was suffering....my second boxer who is seven is severely depressed with the loss of her sister. I've been looking online to purchase a puppy but it's sooooo overwhelming trying to find the right breeder to purchase from. unfortunately i have a price range from $800-1500.....some of the people that i have emailed are asking as high as $2500.....is that a high price? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in New Jersey but I'm willing to drive to find the best breeder and best puppy. Thanks everyone

so sorry for your loss; not sure who to recommend perhaps check with the AKC for a recommend breeder or you could always rescue an adult boxer! Loads of lovable fur babies waiting for their forever home

What is a fair price for a puppy? To me $2000-2500 seems excessive?

If it is a 'good' breeder then the 2000.00-2500.00 is not excessive as a good breeder will incur costs of health testing BEFORE they breed their dogs; you will have a better bred dog, better chance of a healthy pup...there is a thread here called the 'cost of breeding a litter' or something like that. Look up 2manydogs - Kari she is a breeder and she has the most beautiful dogs and pups and she might the one to send a pm to about one of her pups

A dog from one of these breeders may cost $2,000 to $2,500, but should also come with a health guarantee, and a contract by the breeder that the dog is returned to them if it ever needs rehoming. There would also be breeding restrictions to breed with other member dogs of this group so the health and temperament remain under review.

Breeding Information - United States Boxer Association

Many of these dogs only go to working homes because it enhances their quality of life. They can be a handful for owners who are used to the AKC type dog.

I don't think this price is high, considering they don't make much money on a dog if any.

That is a reasonable price if the pup comes from a high quality breeder. You can find lots of byb for less but you get what you pay for with them.

In GA, the testing seems to be a bit cheaper, so the tested pups go for around $1500.

You should be able to find a pup from a good breeder with limited registration from about $1000-2000 and anywhere in between generally full registration is where you will see them from $2300-3500 +

Breeders on the coasts tend to be more expensive. If you come in towards Pennsylvania you could probably find a well bred, health tested puppy for $1,500 or less. I would contact the two clubs below. They might have something available.

What's everyone's opinion on purchasing a dog from a breeder and having it flown to me? I've been calling many people today and one breeder from my area recommended a breeder in Canada. I spoke on the phone with her for over an hour talking about A to Z. She seems very passionate about her dogs.....asked all the right questions and answered all my questions. She gives a four year health guarantee. The name is phantom boxers from Canada. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated
