Autumn springs boxers?

We are looking to purchase a puppy from the above breeder. Their dogs are beautiful and the website shows some loving dogs and family. We are set on buying a boxer for our family and are just researching breeders. We think we are set with autumnspringsboxers.com I just thought I would ask if anyone here has heard of them or purchased any puppies from them. Thank you and cant wait to show off our new addition to you when we do finally purchase!

Thank you!

Have you contacted them and asked what health tests are done ?
The website doesn't mention any health testing.

:) Welcome to the forum, BTW

Yes I have spoke with them, under "about your new puppy" on the site it says, "All of our puppies are AKC and come with a health guarantee. They will have their dew claws removed & their tails docked. Your new puppy will have current shots and a current health certificate. They have human interaction from the day they are born to the day they leave for their new homes. We start house breaking at 6 weeks of age and most are fully house broke before 8 weeks. All of our puppies are micro chipped for loss prevention. We use AKC CAR 134.2 kHz ISO microchips. These are registered at the same time you register your puppy with ACK. We take pride in providing you with a healthy puppy that will transition to their new home with ease", and that is basically what he told me. I do not know if they have had dna testing or xrays. Is that something I should ask/be concerned about?
...and thanks for the quick reply :)

Their pups are cute and dogs are "pretty" (what boxer isn't) but IMHO they are not breed worthy nor up to the standard either. And the fact that they mention no health testing on their site would make me leary of them. I know some breeders dont list it but can provide hard copies of all the testing upon request.....ask them about that. Ask about heart, Hip, thyroid, ect testing. Health guarantees are pretty much worthless if its just a one year as most problems won't start arising until the age of two. And IMHO again, them saying their pups are housetrained by 8 weeks old is a load of crap

I will certainly ask those health questions but why do you say they are not up to standard? They are a deeper red but from what I have read and seen that is acceptable.

IMO they have quite a bit of faults and are definetly not up to the standard.

Just from reading thru their info and contract, I wouldnt buy from them.

There is no health testing listed. By health testing we mean genetic testing that has been done on both parents which includes:

Hip Evaluation by either OFA or PennHip to test for Hip Dysplasia
24 Heart Holter Monitor to test for Cardiomyopathy
Echo Doppler Ultrasound to test for Aortic Stenosis
Blood test to test for Thyroid Disease

The above conditions are genetic and a reputable breeder will have done them to insure that their breeding stock is healthy.

Also I am not a fan of the 1 yr health guarantee and if you read the guarantee the wording is just an out for the breeder. Most health issues do not appear by 12mths of age, also their contract says over and over that they only cover "serious, life threatening conditions" So your dog could have a heart issue but because it isnt dead or dying they do not need to honour the contract.

Personally I would pass on this breeder. Instead I would look for one that health tests and offers at least a 2 yr guarantee.

Hmm well from hours on the computer looking at breeders i cannot find one in Florida that specifically says they do the type of health tests everyone talks about, its hard to find good info on breeders at all really. Others I did find only bred for shows. If anyone can help me find a reputable breeder in Fl please help! Thank you to everyone for your quick replies and your knowledge!

I would contact your local breed club and see if they recommend any breeders in your state. Southeast Florida Boxer Club Just because a breeder doesnt list an upcoming litter doesnt mean they can't help point you in the right direction. I would send out an email saying you are looking for a reputable breeder who thoroughly health tests. Maybe someone can recommend another breeder to you.
