Default Question about a breeder

So Keith and I have been kicking around the idea of getting a puppy sometime next year (once things settle down with us). I've never had a puppy before so it would be a new experience for me. I've always adopted pets who are 1 yr or older.

I reached out to NY Boxer Club and they sent me the name of a breeder in my area. I tried to google this person but I couldn't find anything. Is that a bad sign? I assume NY boxer club would only recommend reputable breeders but it just seemed off to me.

Any thoughts? I just want to make sure I do my research and Keith and I definetly don't plan I rushing into a decision.

I wouldn't take that as a bad sign. My Archie came from an excellent breeder who shared health testing and she doesn't have a site. We were also on a waiting list at one point for a breeder who didn't update their site very much.
My Leroy came from a BYB (before I knew what one was) and they have a really detailed and you can find a lot of info about the through google. However, if you look at my signature, you can see that he only lived to be 4.

Good luck with your search!

It just may be that they spend a lot of time breeding correctly and don't breed all that often so no need to advertise. Just ask for all of the health testing information and to send pics! Good luck.

I wouldn't take it as a bad sign either. Some people may not be tech sauvy or have the time to maintain one. Just ask to see health testing documentation.

I agree with the others. There could be a variety of reasons why they don't have a website up or are just less well known. The main thing is to ask and get proof of health testing when you talk to this breeder. If they don't health test prior to breeding or if they give any excuses as to why they can't provide proof, I'd personally go on to the next breeder.

Thanks all! Before I reach out to her I'm going to go through some of the old posts to make sure I know what questions to ask.
