why would they be good.. they deplete mom of nutrients and it is a lot of hard work.... my breeder retired hers after three litters for moms sake... no because pups are unhealthy.. that is way better in my opinion than a puppy machine.. I sure as hell would not want to be pregnant continually..... not sure why a boxer would want to be either...

Well I wont have dogs capable to breed soon anyway. But I just wanted to know what was considered reputable or not. And what would you look for in a new pup (if I ever got a new one). I wont be breeding, just wondering about the process as I was doing wrong before.

I posted in the other forum the short version:

Yes. My female is possibly. I had a bad expirence with BYB so I'm a newly reformed BYB. BUT that doesnt save my female from possibly already being pregnant. :/ But were taking all the precautions.

Most bitches cycle every 9-12 months from what I've heard. (There's always outlyers though.) So this gives a good 5-6 months in between litters and nursing. Most bitches are back in shape after this and some breeders will breed again. It just depends on how the bitch is. Their organs go through the same stress whether pregnant or not, of course minus actual birthing. They go through the same process mentally too. You can have phantom pregnancies where they go through everything, nesting, lactating, etc. It's the same mental and physically kind of thing. It's sort of hard to explain, but if you're interested.

As far as nutrients that's definitely true and why mos supplment with different things to help the bitch. It is hard work, but from what I've seen most of the girls are back to normal by 8 weeks.
