I feed both of my Boxers 2 meals per day; they get wet food mixed with dry with a bit of meat juice. If they get hungry later, we put a bit of dry food down, mixed with left over meat from my table. They are both healthy. I don’t let them play until 1 1/2 hours after they eat. I lost my 10 yr old beloved Boxer boy in Dec due to ‘stomach torsion’ and my step son over feeding, I won’t ever go through that again!

Iíve always done 2, but since my girl has tummy issues, 3 small meals works fine.

Ginger - Miss Her Dearly - 6/4/97 - 5/28/09

Boxers are the best breed on the planet!

I feed my boxers about 3 hours before they go outside in the morning and we do our walks and running around they horse around a little in the house sometimes but its not crazy like when they are outside my Vet actually told me 3 small meals a day is fine and good for them, just don't go over the daily amount they are supposed to have. I lost a German shepherd to bloat and I never want that to happen to another one of my dogs. So I am a little leery of any activity after eating as you know they like to go 0-60 in no time!

I feed 3 small meals a day and avoid excercise/play time before and after meals. I used to wait 1 1/2 to 2 hours, but after reading all the posts here, I am now trying to be more diligent about waiting a full 2 hours after meals to go for walks/hikes (and will not feed right after any of the same activity either).

Sometimes it's inconvenient, and every once in a great while it means a meal or a walk is skipped or delayed, but I try to be very mindful of activities immediately before or after meal times and plan accordingly.

Occasionally, I have to crate my dog briefly if he gets the zoomies in that window of time before/after a meal in order to avoid him racing around like a nut.

As my pup matures, his schedule has become fairly predictable, so it makes managing his schedule of feedings, exercise, & play time much simpler.

I fed my previous boxer 3 times a day as well, and followed the same protocol regarding exercise/play time. I was blessed with him living for 14 wonderful years, so I am assuming his schedule contributed to his health and must have benefited him.

Default Number of meals per day for a pet

I think the 3-time meal is good for a pet in a day. Try to take 3 little healthy meal to your pet in one day.

I'm twice per day. Raw diet with treats in-between.
