Default As requested....daughters speech on boxers LONG

Here it is...........

DING DING!! All boxers to their corners! So, you probably think I'm referring to boxers in the ring? No I'm talking about boxer dogs. Hi, my name is Vanessa and today I am here to to share my knowledge on boxers and hopefully convince someone to open their hearts and homes to one. To start off, boxers came from Germany. They are usually stocky build, medium sized and a short haired dog. The coat can be fawn, brindle, or white. The colour doesn't matter because they are all equal. They have a square muzzle, strong jaw and powerful bite but are not an aggressive breed. They were bred from the English bulldog and are part of the Molosser group. The first boxer to enter a dog show was for St. Bernards at Munich in 1895. Today, they are the 6th most popular dog in the United States. A boxer is very energetic, loyal and the best friend a kid could ask for. You have to exercise them regularly and give them alot of attention or they can become destructive at home. It is a good idea to walk or run them everyday, just not too long in the winter as they cannot take extreme cold or heat. This breed is prone to cancer, heart problems and hip dysplasia. The boxer is a very smart dog and can be trained easily, plus they love to learn and please their owners. Male boxers are usually bigger than females, they weigh between 60-75 pounds and female is usually 50-65 pounds. They can live between 10-14 years, but unfortunately many die young. This can happen when people are breeding just to make money and don't really care about the health testing. A boxer may look mean, but once you get to know them, you can see that they are just playful and funny. Be aware that they are prone to allergies, some things to watch out for are chocolate, raisins, mushrooms, apple seeds, poinsettas and there's many more. The best food to feed a boxer is a raw or home cooked diet, even a high grade kibble. It is a good idea to crate train so that if you need to leave your boxer home alone for a few hours they will be comfortable in their den. Teething starts early and may bother some people because of the nipping. This does not mean they are aggressive, just grab a toy and put it in their mouth and that should calm them down a bit and help stop the teething. The best toys for a puppy boxer are usually stuffed ones or squeaky toys. When the dog is done with teething the best toys are rubber hoops, balls and tug toys. Some people clicker train their boxer and others will train with treats and then slowly take the treats away as they get older. Please be careful when buying treats for any dog, because they can have chemicals in them, and this can be very harmful. Always check the labels when buying anything for your boxer. In case I forgot to mention, I have a little sister who happens to be a boxer and her name is Nikita, she is 17 months old. She helped me to get over my fear of dogs, and every day when I come home from school I can see her waiting for me at the front window. When I come through the door she doesn't stop licking me for at least five minutes. When I grow up, I hope to volunteer to help boxers in rescue. I hope that you enjoyed my speech on boxers today, thankyou for your time.

Well, that was it....not bad for a 10 yr old? =D>

I am very proud of her....Vanessa was very shy when younger and has really come out of her shell....she's very smart and puts her best effort into everything she does....In ontario we have EQAO provincial testing of students in grade 3 and 6, her test results came back perfect scores...the school board asked us to put her in a gifted program / school, but after much thought we kept in the school she's in. She really enjoys writing her own books for younger kids and then hubby will print them / bind them and she'd hand them out. She's also an amazing artist, I will try and post one of her pics here....
