Well now I don't think the 2"poo" accidents at night in the living room are related to his seizure at all, and I don't think he made the 2 messes in the living room. I think Maggie made those 2 messes.
Don't know if they caught a virus or something, but they both have had runny stool.

Also the seizure that we saw - he only lost control of his bladder, not his bowels.

He's acting much more normal now

Deb - vet said they don't like to put them on meds unless they have 3 or more seizures a day or a seizure that lasts more than 3-5 minutes due to side effects of the medicine.

So maybe I spoke too soon.
We think he had another seizure today, but a mild one. We were outside and he was inside, but he had a lot of mucous / foam around his mouth and on the sofa and was a bit disoriented, but didn't lose control of his bladder.

I ordered CBD oil - it should arrive tommorrow.

Hopefully the CBD oil will help, I know it has been successful for other dogs with seizures. Keep us posted hugs!

Ah geez poor Mongo, hope things start to settle down soon. sounds like you have 2 sick pups on your hands. My Titan had about 4 seizures but they were really spread out over the course of a couple of months. Our Holistic vet did not want to put him on meds also due to the side effects. Trying holistic and so far so good

Thanks Sue - he had his first dose of the CBD oil tonight as it arrived today.
7 little drops - ideally the drops should be placed under the tongue, but I don't know that I could have him open his mouth and lift tongue while I count to 7 so I just put the 7 drops on an tiny piece of bread !! lol

Hi Lynne, how is Mongo doing. My 7 yr old girl just had one on Monday first time. It scared the hell out of me. I called my vet immediately. We had our girl annual 2 weeks ago and had recent blood tests done all good. My vet told me the same as you, either epilepsy or we won't go there, a brain tumor. So now we hope it was a one time thing but if happens a lot bring her in. Meds for epilepsy are bad on their liver and yes MRI are expensive. What is this CBD oil? I know you haven't been on lately. I hope Mongo has been okay. I worry when or if my girl will have another one.

Update - between 10/10-10/11 Mongo had 3 more grand mal seizures. He spent 10/11 at the vet on iv of fluids and anti-seizure meds and we brought him home that evening.

He is now on oral phenobarbital twice a day (today is day 7)
He hasn't had any more seizures, but the medicine makes him wobbly, unbalanced, weak in the hind legs, tired and of course causes increased hunger / thirst / urination.

He has forgotten he is only supposed to pee outside

Everything I have read and been told says that it takes 2-4 weeks for them to acclimate to the meds and then some of the side effects dissipate

Sorry I haven't been online much, hubby and I have been on pins and needles and watching him every second we can. We are even taking turns sleeping on the sofa to watch him.

So sorry to hear this. Hope he stabilizes, I can't imagine how terrifying and gut wrenching that can be.

Thanks chip18 - it's definitely stressful. We don't get enough sleep and we worry 24 hours a day. My eyelid has been twitching for days - it does that when I'm super stressed. lol
