Did he do OK no seizures today??? And ... White Boxer and the 7 to 8 year thing?? I know it can't be "all of them?? But ... another unknown that "Marilyn" kept "harping on!! That I did not see ... was that "White Boxer" ... don't appear to age??? Not graying of the muzzle. so no warning signs that are babies are getting older??

Struddell came down with "DM" at 8 and I never saw it coming?? She did make it to the 10 year mark just barely with lots of care. Not really helpful I know, just an observation .. the no aging thing. My next Boxer will be yet again "White" and hopefully I'll do it better health wise! I wonder if I can get my next one to speak??

But hope it's going better for you.

Too many grand mal seizures can actually cause brain damage and kill.
He'll be getting blood work done in the next couple of weeks to check the level of pheno ( to see if the dosage needs to be adjusted) and also to check his liver function.

I know there are other anti-seizure meds on the market, but the vet started him on this to try and stop / control the seizures.

Lynne, I hope nothing but the best for Mongo, he will pull through the next few weeks and hopefully the side effects will dissipate. How is Maggie doing with Mongo being so sick...I too get the eye twitch whenever I am stressed...hugs

I hope the meds do a good job of controlling his seizures. Poor Mongo! And poor you! Watching him seize like that must be very scary!

He had a seizure today in his crate while we were at work
He pooped, peed, vomited in his crate and was lying in the mess when hubby got home.
Vet told us to increase his dosage of meds.
So hard to see, so stressful.
Please say a prayer for Mongo
