So miss Roxy is 9 months and having her first heat cycle. As far as we can tell. The thing that kind of made us notice she was about to start it was she kept trying to wander off which normally doesnt, a few days later her vulva began getting swollen. We of course dont let her out but to use the rest room and is leashed. She also has been trying to get our neutered male to mate with her lol. How ever here is where we've been confused, so with my husbands previous boxer she would bleed, obviously, usually during the second week. With roxy this hasn't happened.. there is some discharge still. And I'd say the 4th day there was some tiny spots on my bed of what looked like dried blood and a Tiny on the end of her thing. I know weird we checked but we're just confused, if maybe she will bleed a different time or maybe she won't. It is her second week now.
P.s. for anyone who wants to know we do plan on breeding her once, she will be tested, we are waiting on testing till we see if we think she's not to small when she gets bigger because she is the petite one of her litter. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Please read the rules of this Forum:
Boxer Forum : Boxer Breed Dog Forums - Announcements in Forum : Breeding Info

Also, you may find the answer to your question under the Breeding section of the Forums.

I would suggest that you do your homework, have many conversations with your vet, etc. before you consider breeding your dog.

All bitches bleed during their heat cycles, some more than others. As Rocco's mom has mentioned, please review the forum rules.

Sorry I'm new hear didn't know there was a certain spot to post that. As for the research and discussion's with my vet that has been done. We have had boxers our whole life and my husband's family has bred boxers. I've discussed with my vet multiple times even before we got her. Also i did not find the answer to my question. We took her in and they said it was her body preparing so she went in to what would look like heat but that she will go in to a real heat with blood soon. She actually said it's awesome that we even noticed that because most dont. I read the rules and don't see how I'm askingoing anything out of the rules. I will gladly provide any information anyone needs for roxy when it comes to breeding. As I said she will have all tests needed if we do decide to. Her parents are akc registered. She has nof problems this far she's had hip testing. It's to better the breed not for anything else. But that's okay I guess I won't ask anything else of it on here..thank you though

Roxy is to young to be hip tested. Her growth plates haven't even closed yet. The recommended age for hip certification is 24 months of age.

This is why we have rules here. This forum is not against those who breed responsibly.

Until all testing has been done on Roxy and has been shown to the moderation team, please refrain from any breeding discussions. You can view the recommended health tests here:

American Boxer Club: Heath Screening of Boxers in Breeding Programs

In the mean time, please feel free to discuss anything else.

I was curious about the hip testing as I always heard they couldn't be tested before 24 months. I didn't want to add to this thread but thanks for that info.

Well im sorry to say but actually they did test her because she broke her leg and they had to check where the plates healed back together to see if there is going to be a growth issue. And they will also be testin her hips again. ALSO my husbands old boxer that was not bred was found to have hip problems before he was a year old they tested him because he was always walking weird and acted as though he was in pain so it is possible under certain circumstances. And my post was not about breeding, I stated in there she was going to possibly be bread when she's older and has testing done just because I saw another post about another bitch in heat and multiple people commented asking why she wasn't being fixed if she was going to be bred. So I just put the information on there ahead of time..I simply asked about her heat cycle, which I stated in my last comment that I also saw other people do about their bitch and her first heat cycle so as I said to the ignorant minds i was sorry I was not aware and read the rules before I ever posted it and didn't see that I can't ask about heat cycles. It's insane the fact there's people saying do your research and home work yet I am asking a question for something I just didn't understand on the boxer forum, that I apparently am not aloud to ask and that's not doing my home work. And instead of people saying that we aren't aloud to post that and when I said in my comment I didn't see where it says I can't ask about heat people post the same thing over again and only one person on this enature post has been any kind of helpful or nice. Telling me to read the rules isn't helping me because like I said I just didn't see where it said that about not being able to post about heat and if it does that is perfectly okay. I didn't see it and said I wouldn't anymore and instead got told the same thing.

Yes it is 24 months, I could have explained that better sorry for that. My boxer was only tested because she broke her leg and before they could take her pin out they had to check her growth plates along with hip plates to check that it hopefully wont affect her or her growth.tl They did both sides sense they were in there. She is on glucosamine and will be re evalated when she is 2. Also my husbands old boxer, which was not bred for obvious reasons, was tested before he was a year because of pain and walking issues. He in fact already was having issues which isn't very common but happens. So for these two it was a cicumstancial matter. Other wise yeah it's 24 months!

How ever, as I said in the first comment, I won't post anything about heat or anything of that nature again and apologized for not seeing that in the rules and for assuming that because of other posts about 1st heats that it wouldnt be a problem. So thank you for the responses and again I apologize for my post and not knowing.
