There are no words - I am absolutely heartbroken for you. What an amazing mama you are; you did everything you could to help figure out what was going on with Asha. May she run free without any pain.

Thanks so much for sharing your story.

Default Sweet Angel

First, you are a good parent for doing all that you did for your baby who is now a sweet angel, happy and perfect, and waiting in heaven for the day you see her again.

Second, while it sounds like you followed all of your vet's suggestions and was vigilant in taking her to the vet when she had concerning issues, never be afraid to question your vet if they don't give a definitive reason for her episodes. If it is something they haven't seen before and can't figure it out you can always find a doctor that has seen it before and will figure it out. Just listening to a dog's heart doesn't answer all the questions and a cardiologist would have recommended an echocardiogram to visually see the heart and how it is functioning, especially given her history of fainting.

Our dogs need us to be their voice and even if your vet is the nicest person in the world you have every right as a boxer-parent to question them and pursue a second opinion.

I am grateful that I purchased pet insurance shortly after adopting my baby boy as we were in an out of the local pet hospital and vet's office all last year dealing with all of his medical issues. I don't even take him to his regular vet unless it is minor thing like a skin irritation or I need a prescription for his flea and tick treatment or heartworm medication. I take him to his Internal Medicine doctor and his Cardiologist for regular check ups and echocardiograms so that he sees those doctors specially trained for his issues.

You are a wonderful boxer parent and your baby knows you did everything you could for her. Sometimes they are not meant to be with us long but with us in our hearts forever. I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss and all you went thru. It sounds like your poor baby may have had boxer cardiomyopathy I fostered a boxer puppy who was diagnosed with it and she had very similar symptoms to what Asha had. Again, so very sorry for your loss.

I'm in tears reading this. My white boxer (9) passed away on April 24th..almost a year from Asha. It was the worst day of my life I just cry all the time. He had cancer and was doing good for the most part but the last 3 days before he died his eyes and gums were like you said..as white as he was. I guess it's a circulation thing. He was wobbly with his walks but was up, eating, and wanted to go outside that day. We went out and started a walk.. didn't even leash him he was too slow and we live on a no outlet street..but he kept resting in the neighbors grass. I felt so bad I asked my boyfriend to pick him up and carry him back home and he did but Lucky wanted down. Zach put him down and he walked for a second on his own. We were almost home and he fell over and died. It was horrible to see I was in shock and wanted to think he was just resting so I tried getting him up but that was it. My boyfriend came and picked him up and brought him to our yard so we could say goodbye then we took him to be cremated. Just got his ashes back today ❤❤ I know there's so much guilt and we all want to go think that there's something more we coyld have done but that thought will kill me. I guess it was their time..Lucky too soon for me cuz I know he has brothers and sisters from his litter still alive and that kills me..and Asha just too soon in general because she was so young. But I think no matter what it's always too soon. They are our family. Rest in peace babies 😢😢😢
