2 female Boxers in the same house?

Hi Friends, been a while since I posted. Our Gracie is now 5 years old, and I think it's time to add to our family. We are going to view a breeder tomorrow. We were set on getting another female, but I read on another site that adding a baby female to a house with an existing older female is bad. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Gracie is not aggressive or dominant. Any success stories or horror stories? Thank you in advance!

I am so sorry you are going thru this I am sure its hard to watch two dogs you love tear each other up. Unfortunately I am afraid once it has gone "there" escalated to a full blown fight the odds of this being trained out of them are not good. They are not fighting because they hate each other its a dominance thing. I am pretty sure this will continue I think your only options really are rehoming one of them (preferably a home with no other female dogs) or finding a way to let them live separately in your house I know its hard to give one of them up but this situation can be very dangerous for the humans in the house as well as a serious injury to one of the girls. I have always had opposite sexes in the house so I have never had this happen. I hope you can find a good resolution to this problem wishing you all the best!

There are people who have kept two females successfully but I’m afraid the far more usual thing is fighting so I would not recommend trying it I’m sure it’s not easy to rehome a dog you already love because of fighting, my female dogs have always had friends that were also female boxers but they did not live together and that’s the difference. My current female is the sweetest girl in the world great with other dogs but she is undoubtably the boss over her half brother who weighs about 20lbs more than she does but we have no fighting at all.

Oh she does look like Struddel! I think if I was going to try the two girl thing I would try with the Boxer first my experience with GSDs female on female aggression can be super bad. I hear two female Boxers are bad news too but I have never dealt with that nor do I plan to, I like a peaceful house!

I have had a series of bad neighbors in the house next to me that was being used for a rental (thank goodness I think) it’s been remodeled and sold it’s under contract now hoping for good neighbors now, but one family had two female dogs one was a Chow and the other Pitbull I have never seen fighting like that it was horrible I went round and round with those idiots to keep those dogs separated or rehome one of them horrible injuries to both dogs it was a nightmare living next to them and very stressful, Animal control would do nothing either about it.

All the Boxer boys I have had have been very loving and loyal to me and very protective of me so can’t really say I prefer one over the other.

When I litter trained my kittens I used “cat attract” kitten cat litter worked beautifully they never had a mishap. My Moms senior cat started having issues she put regular cat attract in the box she too was helped so maybe you should try that. I don’t have any cats anymore while I do miss them a lot and they lived a long time I don’t miss the cat litter mess! As far as the male/female debate I don’t really have a preference I really think it’s the time and training you put into them. I’ve had some super great dogs either way.
