Hi-I am brand new here and hoping to find some guidance with my boxer boy, Oscar. He just turned 3 yrs old on June 1st. He's fixed and I have had him since he was 7 weeks old. He's been socialized with other dogs, not on a regular basis but before he was a year old he had no problems with other dogs. I have noticed more and more lately that when introducing him to new dogs he sniffs noses and then immediately wants to pin them down. I know that boxers do everything with their front paws but within 30-45 seconds of meeting a dog he wants to paw at them. He's not even aggressive about it, almost playful but then of course naturally the other dog gets testy about it (not that I blame them) and so begins a big snarling snap fest. These situations are always controlled, I tell people that want to introduce their dog to him he's very high strung, etc...Is he trying to be dominant? Have I failed him in some way? And if so can I fix it now? He has run with my sisters dog and a friend of mine's dog as well but he doesn't leave them alone...he just badgers them and they snarl and growl at him and he doesn't even seem to heed their warnings of 'back off pal'. What am I doing wrong? He's such a sweet goofy boy.
