Would like to get Dempsey into agility training as another means of exercises and training, he will be four months old on the 20 of this month and has been doing the weave pole along with the tunnels and dog walk during his training session, at what age would be good for him to start or should he just continue at the rate he is going, have not had any problems with potty training and he seems so eager to learn and try new things.

As far as the basics commands he is well on his way to being the perfect gentlemen when it comes to sit, stay, come, down, off and even does a few paw tricks, was wondering if the agility training at such a younf age would bog his mind down?

Agility training needs to be held off til Dempsey is about 18 mos..His bones need to be fully developed before starting that, same with joggiing, etc...Any activity that will put a lot of stress on the joints, you need to wait til they are totally grown..Walks also, keep the 5 min rule in mind, 5 minutes for every month of age

I would have to agree that that kind of exercise is too much for such a young puppy.  Try and find some creative games for him to play instead of the strenuous exercise required in agility training.  Weaving through the poles might not seem like much, but the running and jumping are way too hard on his little joints right now.  Liz can offer some suggestions as to games to play or perhaps your trainer can.  Let him be a puppy as long as he can.  Good job with the training so far though, it sounds like you guys are doing a great job!
