Hi all! I have had a boxer for four years almost and i am ready for another!!! i have a flashy fawn and would either love another flashy fawn (perhaps from Arizona) or a reverse sealed brindle. I've been hunting for a reputable breeder all around but I found that they either don't do health testing or they don't have show experience or they don't really tell you the lines they come from. Or they charge you am unreal amount for a reverse sealed brindle! The one I was specifically looking at was http://www.blackchampionboxers.com/
But I talked to the man and he just talked my ears off. I barely got a word in. He said he had a waiting list 20 people long. But I was thinking, they don't show their dogs, they dont seem to do health testing etc. Anyone know of these guys? Or have any advice?

Since you didn't get a word in edgewise, send an e-mail asking what specific health tests are done.

Here is a link with the recommended health tests, I would ask specific questions about these in your e-mail

American Boxer Club: Heath Screening of Boxers in Breeding Programs

Saw no mention of health testing on the website, but you can't just assume none is done without asking. Didn't see any mention of participating in agility or conformation either. The info on the website would lead one to believe that they basically breed for profit, but again - ask specific questions.

:)

I originally sent an email asking tons of questions, then he asked if I could call and I did, then I called and he said ok let me answer your questions so I asked only two questions n the rest was him talking my ear off about nonsense. But I will try again, thank you!!! :}

I would definitely skip that breeder. The fact that he's advertising black Boxers is enough for me to skip.

I would almost say there isn't going to be a responsible breeder breeding for sealed brindles because sealed brindles are technically not standard. You're supposed to see the fawn through the coat and with most sealed brindles you can't. The only breeder I can think of that has a sealed brindle that will be health tested is Kaboom Boxers in Ontario. There's always rescue though also. I wouldn't go and buy from a BYB though just so you can get a sealed. Ethics and health is much more important than color.

Me niether, definitely not ever going to a byb or anyone even charging me that much for a "black" boxer. They seem like they're in for the money and thats it. It was just something I wanted (not needed), if I can't find a reputable breeder, (as we can tell lol....) I will search for a flashy fawn instead. I will check out Kaboom though, thank you so much!

Whoa ok $1800 plus a long drive is a little too much. So I change my question :), any recommendations on a great breeder in the south area or near Texas?

You will most likely not find a reputable "seal brindle" boxer breeder. The color seal AKA black is not AKC standard. You may find a very dark litter, reverse brindle with very visible brindling. I know Pheasent Hallow Boxers has a very dark litter on the ground right now, but they are located in NY.

As far as TX breeders, I know of Rocket Boxers.. Connect with Kerry and she might be able to help point you in the right direction.
