Most of you know that I adopted Samson at 6 yrs, background unknown, other than he was removed from his previous home due to neglect...I have no doubt his early years have a lot to do with the way he acts now..Anyways, Samosn never has acted like your typical Boxer, he didn't know how to play or anything..He really wasn't much of a cuddler even.He actually was a bit standoffish. When he would sleep with me, he would find his spot on the bed, but he would NEVER sleep close to me, never would cuddle with me..Having had Boxers before I was soo used to the cuddling that it broke my heart that he didn't act the same way.....Well fast forward to now, times have changed...Now Samson curls up on the sofa with me at every opportunity, head in my lap providing Angel hasn't claimed the spot yet...In bed, he HAS to be touching one of us...It's such a shame that this only happening now in his twight years, but I value every day that I have with him now  :)

Samson..what a sweetheart  :)  You know Willow, he is one of the MOST loved dogs on this forum. I know I watch daily for his progress. And know deep in your heart..you have given him MANY years of boxer LOVE...what more could an animal ask for than a wonderful Mom to curl up with like you.. Be proud of what you did to make these "twilight years" the best any dog could want...as you KNOW he understand LOVE now!!

I know how hard it was to see my Skylar decline - I felt the same way, I just wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. While most would shy away from adopting a six year old, you gave Samson the love and care he deserved going into his senior years and it is obvious from the love he gives you back that he is very appreciative.

Samson sure is a lucky man. My Ekim will be 6 in Aug. I don't know where the years have gone. I hate the thought of him getting older. But such is life.

awwww samson..we wuff you...

Isis had the same issues..she was 4 1/2 but she did not know how to play or be in a family , simple things freaked her out...on & on all due to intense abuse and neglect..now shes a totally different dog @ 6 1/2...

they are simple proof that abused neglected dogs, male or female...CAN be loved and hugged into realizing that the world and people really arent so cruel and its OK it just takes time & patience...its just too bad that it has to be when they are seniors...BUT i feel that we made their entire lives worthwhile... :D

Samson is awesome and Willow you did an incredible job with him...his first yrs are a blurry distant memory now and all he knows is love.

I really believe that the rescue dogs coming out of inappropriate environments work twice as hard to please their new humans, and I think Samson is no exception. It may have taken some time for him to come out of his shell, but I think he truly knows how much you and Marq really love him, and how good he's got it! Give my favorite senior a big hug from me and Maddie!  >:D<

Samson is the man.  Enjoy every minute you've got with him.  I get frustrated with mine quite a bit, but then they cuddle with me and you just tend to forgive and forget.  Charlie is more of a morning cuddler because he's afraid on the recliner.  Sadie and Daddy cuddle quite a bit late in the evening.

Samson is a total sweetheart and he knows how much his mom, dad and sister love him.  I have grown so attached to him even tho I never met him. I have talked about him so much to hubby that even he asks me from time to time how Samson is doing, and for hubby to even remember a name is saying a lot..lol  You and hubby did a fantastic job getting Samson to open his heart up to ya considering everything he endured with his previous owners.

My heart just aches for Samsons early years, but rejoices that he has been able to have such a wonderful life with you and Marq. I really believe what we give out we get back tenfold and Samsons love for you is a perfect example. He's touched so many hearts here on the forum and in our home. Kelly and I worry along with you when he's not well, and celebrate with you when he's having good days. Stay healthy and keep snuggling with your Mom Samson, we love you  >:D<
