Well, our old reliable Bear (9 yrs) seemed to enjoy the company of a youngster when we had my sister's pup around for a couple days.  We've been thinking about adding a pup to the family for a while now.  We found an available littter a few weeks ago and, after struggling whether to get a boy or a girl, decided to go with the boy AND girl!

They're 5 wks old now and we'll be getting them in a couple weeks.  Here's a pic of them at 4 weeks.  The pup on the left is the boy and the right is the sister.  We've decided on names too... Sarge and Pepper

These will be our 4th and 5th boxers we've had.  Below them is a pic of Bear.

BTW, I hope to check back and post often in these forums.  I was following BXF many years ago but it seems that they're still doing the mailing list instead of the forums  :?

How cute.  Two puppies at once!  I couldn't do it.  Mine are 6 months apart and a handful.

I have a Bear too!  Such a good name I think   :)

WOW... thanks for all the great welcomes!

We're trying hard to prepare for the 2 pups but you know how that goes... and it's been almost 10 years since we've brought up a pup.  Now we're bringing up 2 at one time  8O

We've been very, very lucky (KNOCK ON WOOD!) with Bear's health.  Even the vet says that he's the healthiest 9 yr old Boxer he's seen.  Our first Boxer - Tyson - died at 6 1/2 years old in Dec of 1997.  He had a bad heart murmur that we were treating him for over his last 4 years.  We picked up our second boxer, a female - Scout - from a rescue group.  She did wonders for Tyson!  She was around him for his last year with us and he was just rejuvenated from the day we brought her home.   Then we tried letting Scout be an only dog... she didn't do very well.  She seemed depressed.  So, after only 2 months by herself we picked up Bear from a local breeder.  They were together for many years until we had to put her down 2 years ago for tumors.  We let Bear be the only dog since then since he seemed to enjoy the spoiling

But it was definitely time for us to pick up a partner for Bear... I just wasn't planning on the wifey refusing to choose between the two pups  8O

Anyway, you all asked for more pics so... here ya go!

Here's Sarge and Pepper's litter at 3 weeks.  Sarge is the one in the front left with his chin on the sleeping pup.  Pepper is the one in the back right with the flipped ear  :D

Sarge at 4 weeks

Pepper at 4 weeks

Scout and Bear... Scout was 3 years and Bear was only 2

A recent photo of Bear and his cousin Muggsy the Pug!

I'll be posting more pics, updates and questions in the Puppy and other forums... see ya!  :emtthumbs:

My senior, Samson says "woof" to your Bear...He looks awesome by the way..I would never have believed he was 9..As for the pups, what else can you say about Boxer pups, cuties :) There's some great info in the puppy section that may help you out and we do have a couple people on here that have brought home littermates that could give you some tips, namely Jeanene and her gorgous guys Mic & Indy..Love the play on name for the pups, is that a reference to St Pepper's?
