Hey everyone,
I have a quick question about boxer behavior, and I was wondering if you could share your experiences with this issue.
Spinx loves people and especially children. Ordinarily I would consider this a good trait, but he loves people so much that whenever he is on leash he will lunge and pull toward them just to say hi. Even if they are on the other side of the street he has to try to get to them. It just extremely irritating that he cannot stay calm or at least somewhat calm around people. He freaks out when he sees my roommate whom he sees every single day. In your experience, is there an age when this obsession with have to go meet everyone fades?

Whatever it is that Spinx loves best....squeaky, extra special treats anything that he LOVES. Practice a variety of situations, walking through a group of people (hopefully friends or family will volunteer!) or around dogs or other distractions. Make sure he knows about the treat, show it to him and make him focus on you. We did this as part of doggy school and it takes a little practice but soon he'll know that his focus is YOU and you get to decide what he does
