I had someone come in today with a 4 year old female fawn boxer.  They thought she had a stroke and that was the reason for bringing her in.  She was actually diagnosed with Horner's Syndrome and I just thought I would share the information since alot of people dont know what it is or the signs.....

Thanks for the info, pretty interesting read. Almost like a Bells Palsy reaction in humans. Any thoughts as to the causes of the idiopathic type?? With Bells Palsy it's thought to be viral.
It is thought to be the same either inherited or caused by viral.....It is most similiar to Bells Palsy in people!

My parents in law had a Berger de Beauce with those symptoms. It didn't actually seem to bother him but he did look as if he'd had a stroke and paralyzed half of his face like in the pictures. Interesting info - thanks. :)

Thanks for the information...Wow...were they able to determine what the cause what with this boxer??
No not really the cause of it because she was fine when they went to bed and like that when the woke the next morning...nothing out of the ordinary in between....The thing I felt bad about was the the owner was freaking out!!!!  There are two women...twin sisters and they both have female boxers who are littermates (sisters)  the one sister had to bring her dog in not to long ago and she had to be put to sleep because she developed a cancer mass in her lung.  So, the other sister was now in with this girl with the Horner syndrome....The whole family was just a wreck!!!!!!  They are coming back Friday for a recheck so hopefully it will be better!!!!
