So I'm don't know what to expect when bringing the puppy home this weekend, like for the car ride?  What should I bring in the car, what will he do? The breeder is 3 1/2 hours away, I just don't know what to expect!  I'm sure a lot of you all have experience with bringing puppies home, so I thought I'd ask!
Thanks so much!

ours was a 6 hour drive (that ended up being about 8 hours) we got a crate and a bed for inside the crate she slept for most part paced around some and pooped 3 times (inside the crate lol) on the drive home :) we tried taking turns holding her but she was just all over the place so ended being in the crate for most of the ride.

Looks like i'd bring lots of towels and paper towels! and a trash bag. A collar and leash for pit stops.  Definitely need a crate, they don't like to sit still!
Good luck and congrats on the new puppy! I know I would be very excited :)

the small travel crate will be fine for that car ride... you dont have to keep them in it the whole time.  And obviously make some potty breaks!

Remember we expect pictures as soon as you can.  I agree every hour just to be on the safe side.

with pitstops it was a 2 hour drive to get Jetta at 6 weeks old.  I held her on my lap the whole time, and she slept except on potty breaks.  She still sleeps everytime we get in the car...we took a 10 hour trip when she was about 10 or 12 weeks old and she slept on my lap the entire time then too, lol.

Our breeder was 3-4 hours away...so Pua had a LONG car ride her first time out...but, we just packed a blankie(they love to sleep on soft stuff) and some of teh same food the breeder was using...water, of course and some easy chew toys, etc...all of ours were good at letting you know if they needed to potty...even very young, they would fuss rather then pee on Mom or Dad...we just knew if she fussed it was time to pull over! (Oh, and we brought puppy pads with ONLY to use outside to keep her OFF grass that might have been contaminated by passing dogs, etc...I felt better about that, cause that was my biggest worry until we got her home to our own yard!)

This was the ride home...she was in my arms most of the time cause she just slept...I had her AND my 50# 6 month old boy on my lap at the same time, as you can see!

Enjoy!

I was a bad boxer mommy, I let mine use the bathroom on the ground...didn't even think about the disease issue...thankfully she was fine...and I'm assuming she must have been protected due to her vaccine reaction a week and a half later.  In the 2 hour ride...she only had to pee once...she was such an angel.

Here is a pic of her sound asleep on her trip home.

We look a little carrier with us also.  It was a four hour drive total for our little guy.  He spend the whole time on my lap sleeping.  I can't wait to see pictures of your little guy.  When do you get to pick him up?  I'm sure you are excited.
