We have a cottage out in the muskoka's (about 6 hours from us), and all my dogs LOVE to spend time up there. We are right on the lake, and the two cottages beside us are other family members cottages. The road is actually named after our last name. There are lots of dogs when my whole family is up...skin kids and it gets up to about 10 fur babies running around and having a great time!

I was thinking it would also be fun to do some tenting with the dogs. There are a few camp sites around here that I wouldnt mind staying at...

Does anyone else camp with your dogs? What are your experiences??

GOOD question! I haven't done that yet....I wanted to in this summer. But not in a cottage or anything. Like tent, sleeping bags, type camping. My kids have never been really camping and I was wanting to take them this summer and I know Ace would LOVE it. Just don't how it would work.....four kids and a boxer..YIKES! I can just picture all of crammed in one itty bitty corner and Ace snoozing nicely right in the middle of the tent!

We're gonna try it this summer as well... There is a campsite in the Pocono's that has "pet-friendly" areas for tent camping... I'm crossing my fingers that it goes well... Just hope some animal doesn't come through the camp, Chief will chase it through the woods... lol

We took our last dog camping with us and it worked out well.  She slept in our tent with us and we set up a separate bed for her next to us (we cheat and use an air mattress for ourselves).  The first few nights was a bit awkward for her and she wasn't sure what was going on, what was up with the fire and all the strange noises etc.  Didn't help that it rained that night and that can be pretty loud inside a tent.  By night 3 she couldn't wait to get in the tent with us and she loved it in there.  With Cassius and any new dog I might set up a tent in the yard before we go for a day or two and just take them in and out and let them know it is ok.  Plus you don't want them to do the little circle, bedmaking, thing and tear the bottom of the tent so you want to get them used to it.  We hope to get Cassius out there this summer but we'll see.

We have a camper & go every other weekend.  Cletus loves it.  All  you have to say is "Are you ready to go to the camper?"  He gets his toy and to the back door he goes.  It's great because he doesn't get all hyper because I bag the food I am taking & lay it by the back door while I pack what we need.  He knows he going and we aren't going to leave him.  We Luv the outdoors and wouldn't have it anyother way.  Been doing it for about 20 years now.
