Collars....

What type of collars are on your dogs?? I think i'm going to get a keepsafe breakaway reflective for Tyson but can't decide on red or orange. Jackson our border collie has a red keepsafe breakaway, we didn't spend the extra $$ for the reflective since his hair covers up most of the collar. Anyone out there have any other similar collars to the keepsafe breakaways??

Mav barely ever wears a collar..he has always worn a harness but now that he is getting older id like to get him a tag collar and perhaps a martingale for walking because he has started to pull now that he realizes how strong he is. these keep safe ones sound really cool tho. I know shaka has some nice collars if youre just looking for one that is nice and not a "special" one that serves a purpose other than being a collar..they have martingales there too i think. they have a sale on now too
I would post a link, but I dont' think i'm supposed to do that... Just do a search for keepsafe breaka way collar. I really like the idea if they get hung up on something the can get out of it, plus the added benefit of the reflectiveness if you want it.
I quit having Samson wear his collar except when we go someplace, he's not a flight risk like Angel..She has a nice rolled leather collar that looks good on her as she is so dainty...I love the Shaka collars, but they are too wide for her, maybe for the new boy when he gets a bit older :)
I really like the Shaka collars, but I like the idea of having the break away just in case.
I haven't heard of breakaway collars for dogs.  Are they the same concept as cat collars?  Will they break away if they pull on the leash?

After reading some threads here and also it is in my training book we have decided to go "stealth mode" (as hubby puts it) they only wear their collars when we are going places.
Do a search for keepsafe break away collars. The won't break away while on a lease because there are 2 "D" rings that you attach the leash to that keep it from coming apart. Click on this picture link KeepSafe Products-Breakaway collar and you can see what i'm talking about.
Oh wow, I've never seen one of those before!
I'm a huge shaka fan though and I just love the martingale collars!

Only occassionaly does Daisy go "stealth mode" except we don't call it that, we say that she is being naked! LOL!

I think I've seen those D ring ones around...

For me it's Shaka all the way, I love the designs..and the martingale combo has saved us more than once...Sadie just slips out of flat collars because she has such a small head!
We go from a regular buckle collar (Padded), prong choke, chain/nylon choke, or the Illusion collar.  Each one depends on where we are going.  For walks we use the prong choke; meeting family and their dogs we use the chain/nylon choke, dog training classes we use the regular buckle collars, and then the illusion collar we use when going to the local parks and anywhere else because we are still testing out this collar.

I have the basic colar from Wal-Mart on mine.... Works and they dont break them... Affodable... not to much use on them though only decoration...

in my house it is... THe one in the blue colar is........ etc..
I really like the Shaka collars, I will be ordering the martingale and matching lead from Shaka sometime this week
We use the breakaway collars for Allie, but she doesn't always wear her "necklace" unless we are going out somewhere.  Elmo's Closet makes some cool breakaway collars if you are interested in the holiday/seasonal motif.  Allie currently has Valentine's Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and one for fall.  DH thinks I'm nuts, but she's cute and in season.
