My 8 year old, raw fed, boxer has started drinking excessively.
The last 8 years he would barely drink a bowl of water a day.
The last three months he drinks about 3 big bowls a day.
He also is acting like he is STARVING!!! He for sure isn't.

Nothing about his usual routine has changed.

We took him to the vet and had blood work and a urine analysis.
All normal.

The vet says that there is nothing left for it to be besides Cushing's and wants us to complete the testing for this.
$$$$$$$$$$$

Otherwise, he is happy , playful and healthy.

I am worried that something is wrong and not sure what to do going forward.

I sure could use some advise?????

I don't know much about Cushings as in individual disease but our boy Donner had epithelial cutaneous lymphoma and as part of his treatment (there is no cure) he was on large amounts of steroids which caused problems with his adrenals known as steroid induced Cushings. One of the early symptoms was the loss of hair on his flanks and a bit of a pot belly. He already had the increase in thirst and appetite from the steroids. I'm assuming that your vet checked for diabetes with the blood work/urine? The symptoms are similar so if that was ruled out it may have led them to consider Cushings? Sending hope and healing for your dear one.

Thanks for the reply.

Hmmmmm.....you mentioned steroids.
I started Kona on Cartrophen at about the same time.
The vet says one has nothing to do with the other......but it makes me wonder....

I am not sure if he checked for diabetes ...but he did check kidney and liver function.
