Socializing your dog is an essential part of their development and well-being. As a responsible pet owner, you should take the time to expose your furry friend to new experiences, people, and animals. This can help them develop the skills they need to be confident and well-adjusted in a variety of social situations.

To socialize your dog, start early. Puppies are at their most receptive age for socialization between 3 to 14 weeks old. During this time, you should expose them to as many new experiences as possible. Take your puppy on walks, to dog parks, and to other social events where they can meet new people and other dogs.

When introducing your dog to new people and animals, be sure to watch their body language. If they seem uncomfortable or anxious, slow down and give them time to adjust. Use positive reinforcement to reward your dog for good behavior, and practice socialization frequently to reinforce these skills.

By taking the time to socialize your dog, you can help them become a happy, well-behaved companion that enjoys interacting with others. Remember, socialization is an ongoing process, and it's never too late to start.

I would never take a puppy to a dog park, the threat of disease and worm infestation is huge at those places. They are a fantastic way for the puppy to learn bad behavior with negative interactions with dogs that are out of control. A better option is a more controlled environment with a play date with a mentally stable dog

Yeah well. That artical and advise is basically for "Owner's," that believe "Cookies Solve, People Issues??" If you have a dog, that will accept "Treats from stranger's??" They you don't have a dog with "people issues?"

My Boxer "Struddell," Luv'd people, as in people were the next best thing since "Baked Bread!" She would not take treat's from strangers because she did not care ... "Meeting someone new," was what she lived for! I had to thief proof her to keep her from .. walking off or driving off with anyone!

And my first Working Line GSD, was a bit different?? And he would not take treat's ... from anyone he did not know, very, very well! So had I choose to listen to uh "advise like that essay advises??'" Well he'd have been "PTS," as it would not have worked!

Needless to say ... that is not what happened. But if people want to adhere to "Cookie," advise with ... the "Wrong Dog?" A head's up "Don't get a Working Line GSD, Don't get a Malinois and don't get any "Rescue that has been seriously abused by people!"

And the "Dog Park," bit? Sigh ... where to begin? Well I'll just say, people know there dog. But they don't know who brings ... "what," into a "Dog Park!" And if "Crap Goes Down," in a Dog Park and your Dog/Puppy has to fight for his life because, he get's, attacked because "You," put them in a bad situation and they have to fend for themselves .... they will remember that ... if they survive! IE ... where were you??

One has to bare that in mind, when going to any, "Dog Park." If crap goes sideways, "What are you prepared to do to defend your dog?" And huh, dog bites hurt just in case there is any doubt! Just saying there is no need to go out of one's way to look for trouble? Just walking your local neighbor can be tough enough! No need to go to a "Dog Park," to look for trouble??
