Hi All,

Quick question for the breeders on the forum, are removed dewclaws on a rescue a sign that they may have come from a reputable breeder? The reason I ask is we rescued Molly 2 months ago, and the rescue said that the owner who surrendered her had got her at a breeder in OH. I know a lot of backyard breeders will not bother to remove the dewclaws, so I was hoping this is a good sign that maybe Molly came from a better grade of breeder. It doesn't matter in the end as we all love our new girl, just curious to see what you all think.

Thanks!

I would say it's not necessarily a sign that the dog came from a "real" breeder ... no actual " health testing" but it is likely a sigh that it came from someone that at least had a clue.

Many people/breeders do their own dewclaw removal so to answer your question.....No
