Wanted everyone input on this, I noticed after we got tyson that his dewclaws were not removed; the vet said its not a problem but why does everyone remove them? I dont think i bought from a reputable breeder.

Per our standard, boxers are not supposed to have their dewclaws left intact. This goes back to their working traditions in which these digits would have gotten ripped or torn while hunting, fighting or being used for protection. Even today, our breed is especially prone toward injury in this area simply because of the way they use their front legs to "box".

Hope this helps!

I agree you already got all the best answers and if you prefer to have them removed they can be done at pretty much any age.  If you will have him altered maybe ask your vet about removing them at the same time....If you leave them just make sure to keep the nail cut short because it can grow around and back into the pad.....
