Any DIY'ers have a fix for all the scratches in our hardwood flooring?  None of the scratches have gone through to the wood but it is starting to look bad and it's been less than 2 months.  It doesn't bother my terribly because I expected it but it really bothers my wife.  I was wondering if there was any kind of buffing compound that would fill in the scratches...   Any help would be appreciated.

Hey this would also be helpful to me. :D

We are having a conservatory done in the back yard and are going to lay a hardwood floor, would be good to also know how to get rid of the scratches before hubby sees them

I love hardwood, but after my experience with it in Ireland, I radically changed my mind about using it...I have a friend who's hardwood floors are like that, she says they look almost "distressed" now, which isn't a great look for most of us...Marq installs tile and sometimes does hardwood, I also know a few people, let me ask them and see what they say...Needless to say, my whole house will be getting tile now :)

Gee thanks guys! I am getting quotes for flooring now, and I think you all changed my mind on the hardwood! I was leaning towards tile, but now I'm set on it. I do like the look of hardwood, but I think I'd rather have the ease of the tile. Now....just getting a decent estimate where I won't have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it!

Willow...consider yourself very lucky that you have Marq to install. You wouldn't believe the quotes I've been getting!  8O

Lol Lisa, I am very lucky to have my own "flooring" specialist, believe me...If you have any questions let me know, I can help you out....I have seen an awesome tile that looks like hardwood, it looks amazing on a floor..Have to see if I can find a pic of it...We are going to do hardwood in the bedrooms, just going to use tile in the "high traffic" areas...

I also had a refrigerator leak rotten meat juice onto the prefinished floor and it sat there for a couple of months while we were in Florida.  I came back to a mess, but the stuff didn't even seep into the wood floor it was sealed so good.  I was very impressed.
