My Boy came with AKC Registration and a DNA # for the Sire.  However, "there is no such thing as a black/reverse brindle boxer" is what I'm hearing.   We are not breeding him so it doesn't matter but I was wondering what this DNA # entails and if he still could be a full boxer?

Yes, there is.

There is no such thing as a BLACK Boxer. These so-called 'black Boxers' are actually sealed or reverse brindles. And you have a beauty! Congrats!! :)

Well, if you think about... there are different shades of fawn (lighter/darker) - so why not different shades of brindle (lighter/darker)?

When you see a "black" Boxer, if you inspect him, you'll find a splash of fawn/brindle markings somewhere on him.

Reverse brindle is commonly found in the Boxer; black is a genetic impossibility in a purebred - a solid black coat must come from another breed.

The DNA number is simply a "fingerprint" - it's required for frequently used sires.  If the dam and all puppies do not have DNA numbers, then parentage of the litter was not verified - the sire has just been used often and so is required by the AKC to have a DNA number on file.
