So, the search for a reasonable good food for the boys goes on. We have them on Merrick right now, one is doing good, the other one so-so. The problem is the bag is 50.00 for 30lb bag. They boys won't even eat as much as suggested on the label, but we still tore through the food lightening quick. I have been reading and Kirkland's sounds reasonable for both tummy and wallet. I don't have Costco membership yet, but I'm willing to get one if needed (a membership would be equal to one bag of Merrick). The things is Eddie is still only 7 months and Lenny will be a year old soon. I was hoping to keep them on the same food, if I can't I'm flexible that way too, it just would make things so much easier. But, those who go to Costco, do they have puppy version?

I would pick a food by ingredients rather than name on label - large breed, small breed, puppy, senior etc.

Just have to make sure for a pup that the protein is not too high (over 28%) other than that, I would just pick something up that had ingredients that you know your dog can handle.

Thanks for the info! So, I checked the Merrick label and it looks to be running the limit with a label of 28% protien. Is there a bottom level of protien I should look for? I also noticed that Merricks main ingredient is chicken versus lamb for Kirkland. Would that make a difference

Rebecca, have you tried Chicken Soup? I know Ky has Isis & Onyx on the senior version and that's what I feed as well. It's reasonable too $35.00 for a 35 lb bag...Not sure about Puppy version of Kirkland, but knowing Costco, they probably wouldn't carry it..I love shopping there, but sometimes you are stumped about things that they carry...Besides at 7 mos, you could go with an allstages anyways, providing protein isn't too high

I have looked previously at Costco and i have not seen a puppy version. I agree with heather though, it really isnt the label on the food it is the ingreidents. I have not fed any of my gang puppy food, its always been a life stages or something similar.

Actually, I have. I don't think I gave it enough time to settle with their tummies, but when I went back they were all out. The place where I found it at priced the bag at $25.00 for a 18 lb bag. A little pricey. I went back yesterday and they were out of Merrick too.  The joys of living on a Island. If Ky sees this maybe she can tell me where she gets hers from. The only place I have found so far is Pet's Discount.
