Out of our 4 boxers two have done this, the other two never did it.
Bark at objects in your house that they didn't see you put there (or in the yard, etc.)

A few examples...the first time Calli did it she was about 7-8 months old and we had put pumpkins on our back porch which she didn't see us put them there and when we let her out as soon as she saw them her fur went up and she barked at them, she wouldn't stop barking until we were able to get her close enough to let her know it was okay...she was very leary of them.  She did it with a watermelon on the counter too, she was in the other room when it was put there.....when she came into the kitchen the hair went up and barking at it we didn't know what she was barking at at first because we were in another room.  She did it for any item that was new in a room or out side our house that she didn't see put there.  

Then we had Berkeley and Teaki....neither one of them ever did that with an object.  Then came Ziggi.

He does it too.....the other night I let him out after his swim to potty and he ran around the house and started barking....thought he was barking at the dog across the street but he wouldn't come back so I walked around to see what he was barking at.....he was in perfect stance, all his hair up and mad as a hornet......barking at the recycle boxes that we had put out earlier and he didn't see us do it.  He didn't want me to go up to them and kept getting inbetween me and the boxes as I walked to them to SHOW him that it was okay, he almost jumped out of his skin when I picked up the milk jug to let him see it!  

So was just wondering if anyone elses babies did this.   Does it mean they are more alert to what is around them?  Are they just weird?

Oh yes, mine do that too!  The best ever was when the tree fell into our garden - Tink went BALLISTIC!  She kept barking at it then looking at us like "What the hell is this thing and what's it doing in my garden???"  They also spent a good hour barking at and then running away from the paddling pool when we got it.

I'm not looking forward to Hector's reaction to the Christmas tree!

oh god. the christmas tree... Diesel doesn't really bark, but I'm sure he'll try to steal every last ornament, and all the presents too!

Might I add that they obviously got over their fear of the paddling pool pretty quickly - we went to do the grocery shopping that evening and when we got back the pool was flat as a pancake and the garden was flooded...

I did try to point out to Emmet that buying an inflatable pool for two boisterous dogs was optimism bordering on foolishness...

Charlie rarely barked until we got Sadie.  Sadie is very vocal, she usually doesn't bark at objects, but almost always does with people.  This is agrivating to me.  Charlie only barks now when he's rough-housing with Sadie.

I've noticed that a few times and Ringer also started barking at a squeaky toy I got him yesterday whenever it would stop squeaking.  I think it will go away once you convince them that you are the protector and they are safe and not the other way around.

Maguiness does this too.  In our yard she barked at a little cement statue of a boxer that we got.    In the house I can remember her barking at a new floor plant.  She is a goofball!

Abby barks at everything lately...she often just stares at her toys and barks at them...eventually pouncing on them. She sits by her crate and barks at her kong until I give it to her. She barks at hte food bin. She barks at Brady when he won't play with her. She barks at me when she decides she just doesn't have enough of my attention. She's making me crazy...but she's so freakin' cute.

Voltaire doesn't like it when someone he knows puts a hat on  :roll: - he either doesn't recognize them anymore :crazy:  - or he thinks something is trying to eat their head 8O ! Anyway he does the barking, running away, coming back, barking and running away again thing too..... :lol:
Try it  - put a hat on someone who comes round to your house from time to time and see if you get a reaction .
Oh .....and he barks at our car if we don't park it in the usual place....he sees it out of the window and thinks some stranger's arrived. We let him out, he has a good look, comes back in......and 10 minutes later....he starts barking at it again. :signduh: . We usually move the car because this can last the whole day. :lol:
I can just picture the fallen tree scene and the pumpkin one  :lol: !!

Hoosier very rarely barks. Only if I crate him without a treat or if I crate him while I'm still home. He barked once at a stick when I stepped on it to make it pop up like the old Tom and Jerry step on the rake routine. Other than that...not a peep. Not even around dogs. He 7 months right now.

Fiona also hardly ever barks.  The last time she did it was because she did not hear my husband come home and he was coming out of the shower.  She jumped up ran in there and kind of did the scared look around the corner thing ( her body stays still but she bends her neck around to look) then barked and it actually startled me because her bark had become so deep and adult like

My dogs bark all the time. If you dont pay enough attention to Tink, she'll bark her head off. We just cut down a tree and it's laying in our yard, and when they first saw it, both of their hackles went right up! They stood there trying to make it seem like they were bigger than this HUGE log! It was quite the site

Once when hubby's friend had his flat bed parked in our driveway.  I let the dogs out and they barked at it for a while.  It was pretty funny.  An OMG I hadn't thought about the Christmas tree thing.  I didn't have either of my boxers last Christmas so this should be fun.  I did have a cocker spaniel last year but it didn't care about the tree.  Can't wait!

Zara doesnt bark at objects really, but the first time I put one of the kids on my shoulders, she went absolutely berko especially when I started running around a bit.  I guess in her mind pack leaders shouldn't have two heads - who knows but funny as at the time.

Jazz and Gretchen both do this.  They have barked @ toilet paper that was just purchased, groceries on the counter, pots & pans on the stove, &the coffe pot gurgling   They bark each and everytime I or DH come up the drive and when the kids walk up the drive from school.  They have even barked when the kids get out of the shower, and they didn't see them go in!  After sounding the alert, they look at me like- MOM, MOM we're good girls, right?? Did you see that Mom??  Didja???  Dopey dogs!  LOL

hey i put a fake deer out in my back yard i let my 3 boxers out to use the bath room my white boxer is the leader he rush at that deer and jump on its back and tore the plastic deer up and the other 2 boxer followed my white boxer and help him with the tearing of the deer. so now i dont put anything in my fenced in back yard. its more of my male white boxer he hates for anything to be back there thats not back there already. and all my boxers are 2 years old

That is funny.   I forgot that Cuda' took out a neighbors wooden duck windmill..........which leads me to believe that a fake deer would not stand a chance.  haha.
