To my knowledge current DNA testing on dogs can only tell the genetic composition of your pet. Meaning it confirms which breed or breeds are in your dog's ancestry. They are working toward developing a way to help with genetic illness info but this is not available as of yet.  So you will probably only be able to find out if there are other breeds in your dogs line other then boxer.

The AKC DNA testing only verifies (or not) parentage; if you don't have DNA samples of both parents AKC DNA won't do you much good.  The "Breed Heritage" DNA testing identifies if your dog has any of 38 breeds in its DNA (Boxer is included); they've said they'll soon have 116 breeds.

There is genetic testing available for some diseases in some breeds, but not in Boxers.  We're close, but not quite there yet.  If you're interested in helping develop these tests, you may be able to donate a blood sample from your dog (details here: http://www.broad.mit.edu/mammals/dog/donate.html ) or make a donation to the American Boxer Charitable Foundation to fund further research (all ABCF donations are matched by the AKC Charitable Health Foundation) - http://www.abcfoundation.org/  :)
