Saw an urgent plea for someone to transport a male German Shepard and 5 puppies from Carlow to Waterford this evening - the dogs had reached the end of the allotted time (7 days, if you can believe that) in the pound and were going to be put down.  Puppy Rescue, a rescue in Waterford had space for them but no way to get to them as their usual driver had crashed his van and was off the road, so they put the word out on a board I only recently started browsing, and I had to offer, seeing as I live in Carlow.

So, we're collecting the dogs at 6pm and driving them to their new (no kill) shelter where hopefully they'll all find a forever home.  I'll be sure to post lots of pics tomorrow!

That is wonderful of you.  That is sad that they only get 7 days, I don't understand the need to kill them.  I could never have that job.  It would break my heart.  Shoot, I got after Duke the other day and he gave me his pouty I'm sorry look and it broke my heart.

That is very nice of you two.  :D  I'm just trying to picture the two of you, a GS, and 5 puppies in the same vehicle!    Sounds like a fun trip! You will probably have a lot of explaining to do for Tink and Hector when you get home, after they smell all the doggy smells on the two of you!

The run went really well, the male German Shepard was an absolute beauty.  He was absolutely huge and with the sweetest temperament I've ever seen - I wasn't a bit tempted to keep the puppies but I was sorely tempted by him!  The puppies were some kind of Jack Russell mix - very cute, but I'm just not into terriers!  I didn't manage to get many pics, so this one is the best of a bad bunch!

The guy that owned the rescue we were bringing them to has 12 dogs of his own, including a pair of Boxers, so needless to say I had to spend 20 minutes playing with them before we could leave!

Glad it went well...Yup, I'm not a terrier person either, so I would have passed on the pups as well...Marq would have loved the male adult...And you got to play with some Boxers too? How cool is that

What a wonderful thing to do.  Glad you were able to help out and save all of them.  They are adorable!
