exercise in the dead of winter!

So I don't know the best way to get Baz exercised in the dead of winter.  We were able to take him to the dog park all fall long and now that's it's winter and like 15-30 degrees on any given day, it's frigid! We don't have a treadmill or anything we get him on walks when we can I didn't know if anyone has any clever ways to tucker a guy out!?

We got a laser light at Petsmart but I am sure they sell them at any office supply store as well. Sam and Lucy go crazy over it. We call it the "bug" and tell them to get the bug. They will chase that thing all over the house, up and down stairs, until they are worn out.
We don't get out much here either during the winter, only for short runs in the yard and than back inside we go...personally I really like the treadmill, 2 half hour sessions per day seem to do the trick, you might be able to find a good used one for cheap on kijiji or craig's list
We do that too, he loves the lazer pointer!  If we even touch the lazer he knows what's going on, so funny.  We get him going in circles chacing it or his tail, he'll get worn out so fast! We just say "get it Baz" and he'll go after his tail, he's such a goof! He get into fights with his feet too!  I also will be in the bed room and puff up at him and he'll go back and forth from the bedroom to the living room and back. It's so cute.
I'll look for a treadmill, well I won't be able to aford one until it's spring time, go figure... when we can actually go out and play.
It won't be a problem mid March becuase I work at a groomers and they are expanding and opening up a daycare and Baz will be able to go everyday! It's going to be amazing... Well I hope he'll be able to go, I hope they don't think he plays too rough. I mean he's a boxer they play rough.

lmao @ that picture..he thinks he is a husky..too cute....as for exercise we just run mav in the apt..fetch and that kind of thing and short walks because it is soooo cold. cant wait for spring to come
My wife wants me to buy a treadmill for her and britney! We don't have winters in Thailand but we do have the rainy season and this morning we suffered through it! Britney was trying to go the bathroom for the first time while being pelted by rain drops....That was funny to watch...then inside I let her do her boxer burn in the living room becasue no walkie today since the rain hit.
Careful using laser pointers, they can cause some dogs to develop an obsessive compulsive disorder, or become neurotic.

Everyone has probably seen the Ceasar eppisode when he fixed the dog that developed this obsessive behaviour! hehe
I know we do have a few nice days here like today was in the 50's so we went to the park and walked and played frisbee.  But a dog daycare is a good idea!

Yup, that's Angel to a T...We put the laser up.....Getting exercise in the colder areas is a bit tough, so you have to start getting creative...The laser is good as long as you don't have issues, play hide and seek, fetch, anything...Granted it doesn't replace getting outside, but it's better than nothing...The only days I have problems getting mine out are the rain days, then mine start singing that song "no more rain"
If it's 30 or above I'll take Oggie for walks, he has no problem.  But Doggie daycare is a godsend during the frigid weeks.  I just take him one day a week and he's exhausted for 2 days afterwards
I take Kiah to the dog park as long as it is above 20 degrees.  I go around the park about 3 times, which takes about 40 minutes and she has never had a problem.  She runs so much that she is often panting especially if there is a lot of snow on the ground.  When I put her back in the car, I dry her and cover her so she doesn't get a chill.  If it is below 20 we go in the basement and play fetch.
Baz gets so tuckered after daycare, I hope they will let him in, he's such a boxer! He's totally rough I think it's cool and fun but some people get up tight about it.  Back at the old daycare I worked at they would use Baz to meet and greet with other dogs because he pushes boundaries.
