Our boxer had puppies and we wanted to get the tails docked I looked up a lot about docking the tales and called some local vets none in our area would do it and the ones outside of our area wanted to charge a lot so I begin to research and find out how to do it myself I came across this technique called banding I know a lot of people are against it and some are for it but from what I could see it was the simple choice for our situation so the tales were banded and all was well two of the puppies bands came off we looked up what to do in the situation and some said to go ahead and cut the end off well we did it out female had five puppies and all of their tails look great from doing this until I got to the last one I measured her tail just like I did the rest and banded it just like I did the rest and still something different happen the end of her tail seems to be flat and raw while the others are pretty and rounded The puppies are a week old Now and the one with the raw tail worries me should we take her to the vet as small as she is I know that we have to dr it and keep it clean of course I don’t know why her tail turned out the way it did when the rest turned out so well please any experience with this and helpful advice as soon as possible my heart goes out to this little baby and it’s all my fault PLEASE HELP

Ugh..I don't wish to be rude but if you weren't experienced and can't afford to have tails done..why?
Frankly it is unnecessary to dock tails and it is not even allowed in many countries anymore. If you cannot afford vet bills you shouldn't be breeding your dog. I don't know which medication you used for the after care of the banded tails and how the scabs and cleaning were done, it is even likely the pup picked up a infection while doing the care, however It could also could be a nueroma . This can be painful . In my opinion and I'm not a vet or breeder, you will now have to take this pup to the vet so it can be cared for. Not properly cared for the docked tail can be highly sensitive always. Just take it to a vet. And be sure if you want to be a breeder, get a mentor who can teach you and be sure your dog is genetically health tested. So many of us lose out beloved dogs because someone just wanted a litter of puppies and had no idea their dog carried the early"death gene". Good luck

I hope you do take this baby in to the Vet, she could get an infection and being that young could die easily she may need to have it stitched her mother may be licking it alot too being it smells bloody keeping it from healing. I am not a breeder so maybe one of them would chime in on this. I don't know of any breeders who do this procedure themselves so most I know take them to the Vet for this. I haven't heard of any Vets not doing this for their clients I have heard of Vets refusing ear cropping though.

Yeah clearly "you," are a BYB! And you messed up! Boxer's don't have to have a "Cropped Tail!" Althought I prefer it myself but whatever. So right now you just excpt that you "messed up," and just get this "pup," the help they need!! And get your Boxer "Fixed!" And don't do this again!
