Hello all,

I'm rather new here. My husband and I noticed about 4 days ago that our female boxer looked a bit more pudgy around the middle than normal. Also, her mammeries were looking bigger and descended. Being the energetic boxer that she is, it's hard to get a feel for much of anything in her tummy. I have concerns it may be a false pregnancy. How often does this occur with boxers? She just came out of heat within the last month and we have a male boxer as well who has not been fixed so the opportunity for pups is there. We have noticed she's not able to lay on her tummy as easily as she has in the past. Also, she seems more tired and more hungry than normal and has needed a lot of extra affection.

I will try and link to some pictures below..

Feedback appreciated.

Taken 4 days ago, the morning after we noticed the change.

My concern is this would be a true pregnancy and NOT a false pregnancy. Why on earth would you have an unaltered male around an unaltered female in heat? Intact males will chew threw doors and fences and jump walls to get to the female. They can tear houses apart. It sounds like you are uncertain whether she was bred or not. I would schedule an appt with your Vet to have an ultrasound done to see if they can see any puppies.

I don't really see where that's any of your concern, Mgibs.

Why would you think it's a false pregnancy? If you have an intact male and a female who was just in heat then it's far more likely she's actually pregnant.
I don't think it is or isn't false..I don't know either way. I only want to make sure she gets the best care.

Did you keep them separate from each other???

Breeding and Breeders:

a) Boxer Forums does not encourage or support unethical or irresponsible breeding of boxers. We will support ethical responsible breeders and provide a forum in which questions and concerns can be discussed. Discussion or promotion of breeding practices that would be determined by most to be unethical or irresponsible are prohibited. Examples of unethical or irresponsible breeding include, but are not limited to: breeding white boxers; breeding young untested dogs under the age of 2; and breeding for any purpose other than to improve the breed and/or your line. If you post about breeding your dog(s) be prepared to answer questions about health testing, temperament, conformation, and reason for breeding.

b) Photos, links, or announcements to kennels or litters are prohibited unless you followed ethical breeding guidelines and can prove your dogs are of age, health tested, and adhere to the breed standard.

c) Backyard breeders (BYB) and commercial breeders are not welcome.

d) No offering stud service or looking for stud service is allowed.

Gypsiemouse, your question in no way helps me with my concern.

Thus far on this board I have received nothing but questioning and judgement which I find offensive and hurtful. You all clearly have a larger interest in making me out to be a bad person than you do offering help and support for someone who would just like to see that their dog gets good care. Had I realized before posting that this is the type of treatment that was common among the users of this forum, I wouldn't have wasted my time or subjected myself to it.

However the breeding happened, it happened nonetheless. If you aren't willing to offer helpful advice to someone who needs it, perhaps not responding to them would be the best option.

This forum does NOT support unethical breeding - intentional or not.
I posted the rules for you.
If you really wanted your dog to have the best care then you would take her to a vet !!!
