I have a fawn female, 16 months old.  She is about 19 inches "small" and weighing in at a massive 53 lbs.  The vet says that she is in perfect health and weight.

I know that the breed standard is for females to be smaller, but I am tired of hearing "is that a mini boxer?"

I am also tired of hearing the common "nice pitbull puppy!"

Anyone have any thoughts...

She sounds like a normal size female to me. Mine is 3 years, about 23 1/2 inches tall, and 65 pounds.

19" is 2.5" shorter than the AKC standard of 21.5"-23.5" but I think you'll find many people expect boxers to be big dogs b/c of all the backyard breeding and "bigger is better" mentality.  There are lots of threads on "how big is your boxer" i'm sure if you search the forum you can find loads of info too ;)

Goodgirl is right, for some reason a lot of people are under the impression that Boxers are much bigger dogs....Angel is 23" and weighs 52 lbs and she is 2 1/2, so she falls nicely within the standard...We have a couple people on here that have smaller but oh so adorable Boxers about your girls size, so it does happen...It's all in the genes :)

Moorea is going to be 2 in May and she is only 21 inches tall.  And weighs only 40 lbs.  People say things like "Why is she so small".  We usually respond with that's what they are supposed to look like.  She is perfect the way she is.
