For the last few days, Tiggers eyes have been getting increasingly red, not really the eye, but the lower eye lid. and also a very light green discharge has been coming out. all of our dogs get eye boogers from time to time, but Tiggers are kinda green and are appearing a little too often. I read on one topic about green eye boogers and a green discharge coming from his penis, but Tiggers privates are ok. other than the red eye lid and green discharge, he seems to be 110%!! He plays a lot with the other dogs and doesnt seem bothered, but i want to get it taken care of asap and the vet isnt open until Monday. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!--Rich

Sounds like an eye infection. He might of gotten something in his eye causing an irritation. I would say try an over the counter antibiotic eye drop (neosporin or polysporin) until the vet opens on monday and can check his eyes and give you some stronger eye drops. Phoenix had the same thing a few months back and the vet did a dye test on her eye to make sure there wasn't any scratches and then gave us some gentamicin/betamethasone eye drops - cleared it right up in a few days.

i got some "allergy eye relief" drops from the pharmacy last night and I think his eyes look a little better already. theyre not as "puffy" and the redness has gone away some. we also gave him 1/2 of a childrens benadryl. he couldve gotten a tooth or a nail in his eyes playing with Petey cause they play pretty rough!! Ill get him to the vet Monday if its not much better--Rich

If the green continues definitely see your vet..Green = infection, clear=fine...Angel had that a cuple months ago along with a nasty runny nose...10 days of antibiotics and sh ewas fine..Sometimes they can be contagious so watch Petey as well..Generally the red eyes is usually from being tired or with this time of year, could be mild allergies..Benadryl should help that

ok, cool. im kinda thinking allergies too. Ive let him and Petey help me outside with yardwork (they dont think I can do it on my own I guess) like mowingfence replacement, etc and all the grass and sawdust and other junk in the air couldve done it. it looks better this morning, but ill keep an eye on it. thank you!!--Rich
