I ask this because everytime we come back in from outside I wipe her feet (and body if she was playing hard). I have seen dogs who do wipe their feet and I think it's funny but practical. I think it would be nice to teach her to do this. Would like to hear how it is done if anyone has taught this to their dog.

I don't know of anyone who has taught them to...I have an aunt who trained them to step in a wading pool thing at the backdoor before coming in...my mom if it's muddle will wipe her dog's feet.

Ringer doesn't wipe his feet but he comes in, sits and waits for me.  I ask for his paw, clean it, do the other, have him stand and wait till I clean his back paws.  Not the same as doing it himself but I think doing it myself will get anything stuck between his toes.

well looking at it in a practical way if you think to how you taught your dog to sit......usually say the word then slightly push down on the back end till they sit, eventually they understand what you want them to do when they hear the word so would think that if you say a word then actually wipe their feet on a mat or whatever you have down for them, give them a treat once the paws are done and do this every time they come inside, then in theory after a period of time they should pick it up i would have thought...........think i will start and try it with mine and will let you all know how i get on lol

Mine too!

I can get Odin (if told) to come over to the carpet at the sink in the kitchen so that I can wipe his feet. Maybe I'll try teaching Odin to do it himself... I probably would have tried a long time ago but with a newborn... 2 yr old... 7 ferrets... and a husband... I haven't really thought to have time to do that!

Wow, you guys are lucky!!! I swear my two terrors Purposely go outside, find something dirty or wet, then come to the door for me to let them in, RUN into the house as fast as they can, and rub against a couch then do laps of the house.
