Oh heavens..just when I thought the ground pepper did the trick we had our first real rain of the season...I let Ashley out..and..she ran..peed, and ran 5 more steps, and wildly dug a hole the size of her head in the center of the yard!
Daddy is going to be SOOOOO mad!! I did the pennys in a plastic jar toss at her, and that little butt went down like some one shot her ( didn't come near hitting her..but the noise was enough to get her to duck and run ).
We just got out of the bathtub, as those front white paws were NOT white at all :x ....What am I to do with her since I was WATCHING and she got into this much trouble??? Grrrrrr..how frustrating..and we wer playing in the house prior to this, so I know it was NOT boredom.....YUCK maybe its time to bury poo in the spots...

ok, mine too!!!Why do they do that.  It is pouring here and I let buster out and the next thing I know is I am standing outside looking a hole about 1/2 a foot deep and wide filled with water and he is doing laps covered in mud from nails half way up his legs.  He knows he is not supposed to do it and  when a ketch him in the act he digs even harder and faster.  He is like a rebeling teenager!!!  The only difference is mine is alot older and knows better!!!

Bowser dug a hole a foot deep up against our house, plus I think he eats the dirt too cause it was all over his face, as well as his paws!!  I read that you can bury his poo in the hole and fill in the dirt over top, they hate their own poo!   The other thing is you can make a sandbox and bury some toys in it and let him dig there.  Try those things - Good luck!! :p

What is ground pepper??? Where do you get it???

My winston is a BIG TIME DIGGER.

I have holes all over my backyard that I am going to have to fix... Sorry to hear that your Ashley is a Digger.  I will try anything to try and get him to stop.

Thanks!

Just sprinkle your regular pepper in the dirt areas where they have dug. Someone else told me they used Cayenne pepper.
I just found that I really had to revert to either sprinkling the pepper frequently ( no big deal..a HUGE bottle os inexpensive ) or where she was going to town in the center of the yard..I DID bury her poo in those spots. works as a great deterent, but to be honest, I think exersizing her more was the trick..she was BORED..she now has a basketball that she adores in the backyard..and takes out frustration on that..kinda comical, as she CAN'T pop it....so she noses it as fast as she can..barking wildly at it..makes for alot of fun to go play with her in th BY now too..she acts like she ie a soccer player :)
Good luck with the digging!

Chloe used to dig holes all over my yard like she was trying to dig her way to China! Then one night I took her outside and twisted my leg in one of her enormous holes and said screw this. We have since made her a sand box and it worked like a charm. Brodi has already started the digging and I am so thankful for that sandbox cause he is already catching on that is the only place he is allowed to dig.
