I've been taking Bosco on long walks through the trails where we live.  He really enjoys them.  I noticed last week that his front left paw was really pink.  He had been licking it all day.  I've been washing his paw with a mild soap.  His two middle toe nails (where they meet the paw) are scabbed up.  What would cause this?  It's just the one paw.  And everytime he goes for a long walk....the two nails bleed a little?  Is there something I can put on it to prevent infection?  Thanks :)

Have you had the vet check it out?  Maybe they can see something you can't.  You could use a boot on him when you go on the walks to help protect it.  I think that neosporin might be a good thing to use, just don't let him lick too much of it.  You might want to put it on the foot at times he will be busy right afterwards like before you feed him or before you take him out.
