Ok, so I've spent the last almost 3 months fixing my dog.  One weekend alone with the guys and he's feeling the pain.  And they weren't even alone!  I was here!  I don't understand these Kens I live with!

They had a pretty crazy outdoors kind of weekend while I was cleaning the house.  Saturday, lots of Henry running around, acting crazy.  He was a little stiff Sunday morning, but seemed to be alright.  Then they let him run around like a crazy dog again, even though I told them he needed to take it easy or would get hurt again.  By the time they came in Sunday evening, Henry was almost limping!  Woo, I'm mad now!!! :x   So I go off on them about how much trouble it has been for me to try to save this dog from surgery.  They've done nothing to help the whole time!  And now they want to go and ruin it all!?!?!?

This morning Henry wasn't limping, but deffinately favoring the leg.  He walks alright, not perfect.  When he stands, he sort of leans to one side, not putting weight on the hurt leg.  It has been a huge fight to not get him to run today.  I finally had to leash him just to go potty because he would try to run around!  I've put him back on lock-down.  Hopefully a week of being locked up will help.

I'm trying my hardest to avoid surgery and these guys act like total idots!  I want to live with people that will help me, not give me greif!
Thanks for letting me vent.

Sharon, should I go to the vet or give it the week and see how it goes?

Keeping fingers and paws crossed that he is just stiff and he is alright.  Did the Kens at least look sheepish?

Poor Henry!!  I'm so sorry.  I bet you are peeved!  I would be.  I'd think you could just keep him on lock-down for a few days and see how it goes.  If he's still favoring it, go to the vet.  If you go to the vet now, they'll probably tell you the same thing AND you'll be out the vet fee.   :?

Sounds like the guys at my house.   When Mateo was just a puppy of 10 weeks they were watching him in the yard for 10 minutes.  I'm in the house and Tom comes in carrying Mateo saying he did something to his leg.  I'm like what the heck was he doing while he was out with you?  I don't know he says.  Ended up he fractured his back leg, poor guy, and had to be in a cast for three weeks.  I never trust the men with my dogs.  God help them!

We will keep you in our prayers.

He has probably just pulled the tendons....I would give him through the week and see how he responds....if you have any of your Rimadyl left maybe give him a dose or half dose and it will help him with the leg being sore.....It take months to really recover from a tear!  In that time he has to be "careful" he does not have to be on lock up....but he cant go 90 to nothing either......:)  Maybe everyone got the message!

I thought Ken was a slang too, I knew this girl who would call those preppie dudes with sweaters tied around their necks as "Chads."

I have to admit, most guys are neanderthals around dogs.  Something about the primal connection between man and dog that brings out the cavemen in most of them.  Just from having people over, I've realized there are two types.

a) The guy who is way too into your dog and wants to play tug-a-war and try out those cool new moves he saw on UFC last weekend

or

b) The guy who has no interest in your dog whatsoever because it's just a "mutt" and if it gets in his way, he will bitch and moan and talk about kicking him

Rarely is there any in-between!

I'd be steaming too.  After crutiate surgery rest, the vet said it's the zig zag, crazy Boxer moves we were to avoid a little longer.  I'd stand at one end of the long backyard with a treat so he ran in a strait line (kinda) until he built up the muscle he'd lost.  Sending healing thoughts, I think they've learned now.
