Been a very long time since I had a puppy, so I need a refresher course anyways  :) Mine are both adults and go generally 3 times a day. But some food will cause them to go more and puppies definitely are poo machines

Maddie will go twice a day. Sometimes she will go 3 times, but no more than that.

Well, generally if you're allowing them to free-feed, they will obviously go a lot more. Do you limit his food or do you allow him to free-feed? If you limit his food, how much do you feed him? But really I think it sounds normal to me. A puppy has a fast metabolism already - but since they're also growing (and fairly fast @ that), they're going through their nutrients much faster. So, I wouldn't be worried all that much. As he matures, he'll stop going so often.

I don't limit his food, he eats as he wants. I do this because when we were feeding him on a scheldue he would eat so fast he would end up throwing most of it up. Mind you he is our only dog and doesn't have to share with any other so I dont know why he ate so fast. His weight is pretty normal too he just turned 8 mo and he weighs 55 - 60 lbs.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it... the more they eat, the more they poop *hehe*... I would just keep an eye on his weight & if he starts gettin' a little pudgy, I would start monitoring how much he takes in. Like instead of filling it back up whenever it's empty, maybe put a cup in at a time or even a 1/2 cup. But at 8 mos. & around 60lbs. he sounds perfectly fine to me. :)

It depends on the food Kiah eats, now 2 to 4 times a day at 19 months.  On the other food it was 8 or more.

Jessie goes at least 4 times a day.  I was just away for the night and Shauns mother watched Jessie for us, we were gone for 24 hours and Jessie did not poop the entire time we were gone.  She just went about 10 minutes ago and it was mostly diarrhea.

Savannah, Reese and Samson all go each time they go out which is roughly 3times a day if they dont have free access to the yard. Since it is getting warm though we leave our back door open and they come in and go in the back yard as they please, so i am not sure how often, but they eat 2 times daily.

Oscar is closing in on five months and he poops six-seven times a day.
Jetta is five and a half years and she poops twice a day sometimes only once!

Odin goes 2 times a day... so does Nikki. Sometimes Odin goes three times a day... but mostly 2. I think it turns into more when it's wet and raining and he doesn't COMPLETELY finish because he wants to be inside.

I just get tired of picking up poo is all. Its usually alwyas pretyy soft too, messy to pickup. He is 5-6  months old right now and is 40lbs. Just went to the vet and everything is fine. Just curious as if it was normal or maybe I should look into switching foods if that could have helped it. And he is free fed, guess that could have something to do with it also.
Thanks for the replies.

Henry is 18 months old and usually goes 3 times a day.  He likes to graze the yard and eat greenery, so that will make him go more.

Maybe you could feed Tyson 3 times a day for a while and see if that helps.  That's what we did w/Henry when he was little.  As he got older, I weaned out the noon meal, now he eats twice a day and is fine.

I also agree that it depends on what you're feeding them. They tend to go less on a higher-quality food. I feed my two Canidae currently & they both go 2x/day.
