Hi. I visited several weeks ago, because I was thinking of adopting a 2 year old boxer. That particular match didn't work out (someone else adopted her), but today I found my girl, and brought her home. She's an 8 month old boxer (my first boxer...I had a Miniature Pincher named Judy for 12 years, who passed away in 2021). She's on my lap right now. We're in a bean bag chair. She's a big cuddle bug! I've named her Claudia, but with Spanish pronunciation, so CLOUD-ee-ah. I'm speechless right now. It's been a long journey, waiting to find the right canine companion. I'm amazed. She is heaven sent.

Well congratulations and "Welcome Aboard." And unless you live in Texas?? Rescue Boxer's seem to be pretty hard to find? Which of course is a "Good Thing," unless one is looking for one. :)

Is this your first Boxer??

Thank you! Yes, it is. It feels so right. We just "get" each other. She is the 2nd boxer I've seen for adoption on the domestic animal control website within the last couple of months, but I don't know how common it is in general. I'm in the Midwest (near Chicago), and it's snowy wintertime here. She isn't a purebred Boxer, but she's got that kissable Boxer face, and the great personality that Boxers are famous for. Her paws are "webbed" so she may have some Beagle blood or something? I'll buy a DNA test eventually. I'll post some pics soon too..I don't want to stress her out with a photo shoot her first night here. I can't wait to show her off, though.

Thank you. Life is already better with Claudia. She's keeping me active. She is a rescue. The beginning of her life is a mystery, but she has issues with leaving one environment and entering another...timid about going out, and sometimes stubborn about not wanting to come back in (to apt, or the car). She doesn't like to go upstairs. I just wait, sit down, offer treats, and she comes around. We're still in the first 24 hours, so I'm betting she will get less fearful about these things. She's quiet most of the time, but barked (at another dog) last night. I was impressed by the sound of her bark, deep and lovely.
