Ok a little back ground.... Belle is almost 3 and has been a great dog since I got her at 7 weeks. She was pretty quick taking to the house traingin thing. Never chewed (on my stuff, did a little of my ex-wifes) and has been nothing but a lover! She was over at a friends watching her while I was out of town and he has a male. Well ofcourse she was in heat and we had puppies 7 weeks ago yesterday. Ever since she had the babies she is just pooping and peeing in the house. Ok let me back up a little. I moved into a new house a year ago and my son (8y/o) and my ex-wife didn't move with me. They went back to Germany. Belle had a few issues with going in the house when I first moved in but it was new and didn't have a yard. She dialiked going out in the dirt and some times after I walked her at about 9 or 10 she would go on the wood floored dinning room. Once I got the grass in I had almost no problems with her. Every once in awhile when she wasn't feeling good, completly understandable. I was gone to school (military) in Georgia for two months and while I was gone she had puppies. My GF was is tsaying at the house to take care of the plants and dogs so that wasn't an issue. The problem is now she just goes where ever. I leave for work at 0600 and then come back about 0740 then out at 0840 and back about 1140 and then back to work at 1250. So I'm pretty much in and out all day but it seems like every time I come home I find a mess of poop and pee on the floor. It's mainly on the wood dinning room still but some time's it is in front of the door. I have read that it might be a UTI and I should get her checked but I'm looking for other reasons and ppossible cures as well. This has been going on for two months now and its driving me nuts! I already have 7 puppies to clean up after and deal with.

Thanks in advance
Brad

Welcome to the forums and sorry about the accidental litter.   There is plenty of information in the breeding section as well as the puppy section so def. check it out.   As far as your potty problem, I would def. get it checked out, UTI's cause random unrination.  Also not sure of behavior of a new mother.  Sometimes they dont like to leave the puppies so IMO I think she may be having accidents as a result.   Jennifer (Newcastle) will probablly have more info on that since she has whelped and raised litters.

I would try to get a urine sample and bring it in to the Vet.

Perhaps she is having trouble holding it in b/c of the pregnancy and birth.  Even if she wasn't housetrained she shouldn't normally need to go to the bathroom every hour.  Are you keeping her and the puppies confined somewhere while you are gone?

I have a spare room just off from the dinning room. I put a tarp down and several blankets for the babies. There is a "baby gate" on the door way so the puppis can not get out but Belle jumps right over and goes in and out as she please's.
She was very attached at first but has gotten much better about leaving them alone over the last couple weeks. They were 7 weks yeasterday and she goes in there a couple times a day to "check" on them and she goes in when ever I or my GF go in to clean up after, feed, or play with them.
I was kinda thinking about it being due to just having the puppies.......... anyone know anything for this? Someone mentioned cornsilk tabletts or something??

I dont know what to say but your female but hopefully she will get over this soon and back to being your normal little girl.  Those puppies are beautifull.  Too bad you are probably to far a way from IL, but they are just precious, especially the fawn with black mask and a little stripe on top of the nose.

I have never had a dog with a litter so I am not sure if this is usual or not.  I was just wondering what the vet said after she had her puppies, if maybe there were some issues that might cause something like this.  Adorable pups you have there.

Same here. Even humans that have babies take a while before they can completely control EVERYTHING and a lot of times things will never be the same again. So I think that might be part of the issue though  it has been 7 wks... what did the vet say?

I was going to say something along the lines of what mastray said. a lot of women get UTI's during pregnancy. and after giving birth some have problems holding their bladder. so maybe it's the same thing for dogs? It could be something you want to ask your vet about.

Some of it could also be the new house, new surroundings, being without your son and ex wife, etc.  She is also just went through a BIG change having babies.  Like others said I would make sure it isn't health related and then begin re-training her on where to potty, I would also suggest a cage for when you are gone.
