First, let me say that I'm so glad I found this forum. I love reading the posts and knowing that other people are going threw the same tirals and tribs. I have owned smaller dogs before, but once you have had a Boxer there is know going back. My Abbey has changed our lives. Shes my youngest child. If shes on the couch asleep and I go in the kitchen, she drags herself off and follows me. Shes a clingy little girl.
We are taking a vacation in July. A trip to Seaworld in San Antonio. This is the first time we are leaving Abbey behind. My Brother and 9yr old Niece are going to live in my house for the week. Im heartbroken to leave her behind. Its kind of casting a shadow on the whole thing. Im sure her Uncle will take good care of her, but what will she be thinking when her puppies(my 2 chidren) dont come home from school. Ive never been greeted at the door like she greets me. She goes straigt into her "C" postion and wags that stub for a good 30 min. Whos left a child behind before?

Aww... I'm sure she'll be fine... but don't be surprised if she gives you an awful stink eye when you get home! *hehe* However, I doubt she will... if she loves you & your children as much as you say... she'll be right back to kidney beanin' (the 'C position' as you call it) when you return.

She's beautiful, by the way! :)

9 days until we leave to Chicago for the weekend. Our dogs are staying here, with one of my husband's friends who will be here full time watching them. I'm terrified!! It took me 3 years to let my skin child stay the night at MY PARENTS house.

...I have separation anxiety.

WHen we went to Ireland last June for 4 days Jessie stayed with my landlord.  I didnt call because I know she will be safe with them they are dog people and are considering adopting a boxer this summer, so I know they want to spend time with her.  And I will be using them this friday, we are going to foxwoods friday night!

Welcome to the forum, Abbey is so cute.  She is probably going to miss everyone but she will be in her own home and not a strange place so that should make it easier for her.  Can't wait to see more pictures of her.

The "c" position is what we like to refer to has beaning :) I love it when my trio are that excited!! I have left my girls behind many times to take weekend trips to Oklahoma. I am gone 2 days and torn on feelings. Half of me thinks it nice to get away from it all for a little bit, but the other half is going "wonder what they are doing right now" sooo....in the end its hard and i leave early in the morning to be able to spend time. Now i havent left since we brough samson home...but that has only been like 3 wks so i am sure it will be very hard this next time i head up there.

I've had to leave my babies behind twice so far.  first was the weekend after I got Jetta- she was 7 weeks and hubby and I went on our honeymoon for a 3 day weekend.  Jetta stayed at my mom's house.  It was sooo hard...she was so little and I was soo worried about her, lol.  She was fine and even remembered me and my husband.  The second time was January 5-6th.  My husband surprised me with a stay at a bed and breakfast with a meal at Das Essenhaus.  Really really good food.  Again they stayed with my mom.  both babies were happy to see us when we got home.  Jetta climbed right on my lap and cuddled...Bo right on hubby's.  I always wonder how they are and miss them...but it is nice to get away from the craziness from time to time.  This summer we are planning a couple camping trips to include the dogs and possibly and 1 year anniversary honeymoon ( I was sick on our original honeymoon)  My mom would be watching them again for that.

lmao i am still guilty of this...hahahaha...my sons are 5 & 9 and theyve only been away from us about 5 times total ever and for emergency reasons..of course my youngest is autistic and i jsut cant fathom the thought of leaving him with anyone ..except my mom & dad but they are 6 zillion miles away in Mass..

in almost 3 yrs..i have only left the dogs ONE time..and that was to fly back home for 4 days ..but hubby stayed here in hawaii so we didnt have to leave the dogs haha...

this year we are going to have a friend stay here at the house while we go on leave ...i am nervous already jstu thinking about it..but itll be ok

i remember Heather going on her honeymoon hahaha she was more nervous that the dogs were ok than anything else ..hehe
we all go through it

I am leaving my maverick for the first time  on march 18th. (ive left to go to my parents for the weekend but he is left with the bf and isnt too distressed) The terrible part is that i will be gone for 10 days and my baby will be at a kennel. I feel your pain.

Welcome to the forum! I think we agonize over being away more than our babies can even fathom..Samson ignores me when I come back, his way of expressing his disapproval that he didn't go, Angel is just soo happy to see me it makes up for it...I do talk to them on the phone every day while I am gone tho  :) Abby will be fine tho, believe me...
