[Lola’s human mom]

Our 8 month old boxer was very rambunctious yesterday while playing with our nieces and nephews. She did not ever seem like she was hurt. She yelped a couple of times last night, and wasn’t her usual crazy self this morning…no running or bouncing around. She is walking slowly, with her back a bit hunched. She is sitting normally and is not having a problem squatting to urinate. I did notice that she now has some swelling to the lateral aspect of her left knee extending to just below the knee joint. Is it safe to watch her and take her to our regular vet on Tuesday? Should I ice the knee?

I think you should take her to the Vet asap. Her changed behavior tells you she's not okay.

Yes it would be a good idea to ice her knee but only for about 5 minutes at a time, it’s important you keep her on a leash no running around at all. I would see the vet they can offer pain meds and laser therapy for her knee early treatment will help with outcome here and keeping her quiet
