Hi Guys,

We went out of town last weekend and we left Lexie and Sammy at a boarding kennel for about four days.. According to the owner, they did outstanding, however, ever since we got Lexie home she's been acting odd.. She's been sleeping really close to us, pretty much right up beside us! Plus, she's been panting ( probably spelled it incorrectly ) a lot! Could this be that she is nervous that we're going to leave her for a few days again or is this normal, boxer behavior? Just curious.. We've had boxer for years, although, this has never occured..

Thanks!

She may be anxious that you are going to leave her again.  I know others have experienced some problems when they have moved or someone else was taking care of them for awhile.

It sounds like she's reacting to you leaving her at the kennel...I've never kenneled Samson cos I don't think he could handle it, but he does one of 2 things when I come back, either he totally ignores me for leaving him, or he clings to me....Buck & Tia did pretty well when kenneled, my biggest isssue with them was the fact that Buck refused to eat! Also, if you do have to kennel again, you might see if they both can be kenneled together, that's what I use to do and it worked pretty well....

8O Isis would trip out ..we cant kennel either one...hence why its so hard for us to leave the island to go home ..we need someone to stay at the house and be able to be here morning, lunch and at night..keep things as normal as possble for them

Chase you know Lexie is set in her ways haha..shes jsut making sure i think that you are staying put..did she eat ok?

Thanks everyone for the replies! Much appreciated! Lexie has been doing a bit better, she got a bath yesterday so she smells really fresh, to our surprise, she enjoyed her bath at the kennel..

Lexie and Sammy were both together when we took them to the kennel for the weekend.. It was funny though, Lexie is alpha at home, but Sammy was alpha at the kennel, luckily they didn't
argue while we're gone though...

Yup, Lexie ate pretty well, usually she won't eat if we leave her, but I guess the food looked really good to her! Hehe..

Thanks Again!
