Hello!

have a 3 year old in tact male boxer and there have been quite a few changes in our household lately. Cash went to daycare for many months when he was little, came to work with me (in the office and on construction sites). He has been socialized well. I fear I may have contributed to his current behavior. My granddaughter and son spend every other weekend with me until his home is done being remodeled. I started crating Cash occasionally to give the baby some room to run (she's two) and because Cash has knocked her down a few times. I know he just wants to play with her but he's so rambunctious. I found myself "placing" over and over and well took the easy way eventually for me and crated him. Now my son has a new male boxer puppy that comes with them. They play well together, run around outside and chase each other, eat separately, have no shared chew toys, sleep separately and I keep the puppy on a leash inside the house and outside when I'm with them to go potty. Play time I'm out there but the puppy is off leash. They are never unsupervised. I still have put Cash in his crate when it gets to be too much inside as he is just such a good boy.
Well, after much thought I think I've basically removed him from the family when they are over. He lifted his leg on the babys stool the other day. I caught him and redirected him. The last time the puppy was over, my husband had Cash in the garage playing so when the puppy left I let Cash in, went to the laundry room and when I came out (maybe 10 sec later) the kitchen floor was soaked, allllll over, from one end to the other in a zig zag. As I said, I feel like I've done some damage and welcome your feedbackbut does this appear to be marking? I've never had this happen before and every boxer I've had my son has always had one as well (at this home) but I've always watch his dog weekends if he was gone.
Thank you all so much for your time!!!

Just wondering if the male puppy had peed even a small amount near the baby’s stuff or in the kitchen I think that might inspire the older intact male to mark over. Cash may feel this puppy has a dominance streak in him he doesn’t like as well, there’s a lot in play here and separating him all the time may be very upsetting too. These dogs have a strong sense of self and resent being kept apart from things but I have a strong feeling this puppy may be the problem here. While they appear to be playing there is probably some subtle thing you just aren’t seeing going on. Not all dogs are going to get along or like each other any more than people do. I have a 4 year old intact male and a 5 year old spayed female he pees over hers all the time outside just doing the “male” thing. Your dog zig zagging pee after being let out of the crate is him telling you he is very upset about being crated.
