Only fellow Boxer lovers could understand my excitement.  Here is some backstory.  Dh and I work for the American gov't and we are currently living in Tirana, Albania and work at the US Embassy.  A few months ago I was told that the prince raises Boxers and once in a while he has puppies.  I got very excited because I was also told that he would be breeding soon.  So that brings us to Saturday.  

I got a call from a friend of mine Saturday morning and she asked if DH and I would be interested in meeting the Foreign Minister, the king, and the prince.  Of course we would!!!  So we met the FM and spoke with him for a bit and toured what will be the new foreign affairs building.  After that we walked over to the king's villa.  We spoke with him for a while and I learned quite a bit of Albanian history.  Both the king and the prince speak excellent English and are both well spoken and very polite.  I kept waiting to see the dogs.  As we were leaving he let the dogs out and I met the 5 beautiful Boxers.  2 are seniors, one is almost all gray and the other is becoming gray all over.  Another male was not quite a senior but older.  Then there were 2 7-month old puppies.  All the Boxers are brindle - dark and light.  The 2 puppies he will breed next year.  The prince said this father gave his mother a pair of Boxers when they were married and that all the Boxers have been descended from that line.  The line originated in Sweden.  Tails are docked but ears are natural.  They were all so cute!  In true typical Boxer fashion, they all wiggled their butts and gave slobbery kisses.  One even nibbled DH's ear.  We did show the prince a photo of Allie (it was on DH's phone).  His young female puppy looks almost exactly like Allie.  The white on her face is different than Allie's.  I told the prince to remember me because I wanted one of his Boxers.  

I just had to share that story because I know you guys will understand my desire to stalk some Boxers.    :lol:

Oh lucky you, I get so excited when I see someone elses Boxers; it is so much fun to talk to other Boxer lovers.  Wish you could have taken pictures.

What a great experience for you!!! Oh I would have been in heaven...How kind of the king & prince to take time out to meet you and share the story of the Boxers..I can understand the no picture rule, for obvious reasons, but yup, sure would have been nice to see pics, I would have loved to see those seniors

We had our camera with us but thought it would be inapproriate.  If I get the chance and the ok, I will definitely snap away.  They were such wonderful and well behaved furbabies.  I was surprised that even the seniors still had that Boxer energy.  Also for being European and I may be wrong on this, they did not seem different size wise.  It was always my impression that European Boxers were slightly bigger than American ones.

I do think the prince could have sat and talked Boxers for quite a while.  He truly seemed to love his furbabies.  One other thing, he is a responsible breeder.  He doesn't breed every year and if he does breed, it is only one time during the year.  I wish you all could have been with me.  It was a great time.  Allie decided I cheated on her and didn't give me any love when I got home.  She smelled the Boxers on my hands and then smelled that they had hugged me.  It was enough for her.   :lol:

I hope so.  A friend of mine has been over there to visit a few times and does mention that she knows a person (me) that would love another Boxer.  She also wants one too.  Hopefully it will happen.  Of course if it does, you guys will be the first to know and there will be pics!!
